Job Title: Histotechnologist
Job Description
The histotechnologist will perform all routine and special paraffin histotechnology duties in a state-of-the-art CAP-certified pathology laboratory. Under the guidance of a Lead Histotechnologist, you will provide high-quality diagnostic material within established turnaround times.
Responsibilities
+ Embed, cut, stain, and perform other tasks required to process tissue in the Immunohistochemistry laboratory.
+ Perform accurate gross description on tissue samples.
+ Perform quality control procedures established for each method and maintain accurate records.
+ Operate all instruments/equipment according to accepted written procedures and recognize and identify instrument/equipment problems.
+ Meet acceptable turnaround time and productivity standards for the section.
+ Recognize testing errors/discrepancies or problems and notify appropriate personnel to assist in problem resolution.
+ Record, transcribe, and maintain records of patient test results according to protocol.
+ Assist other personnel with identifying and analyzing inconsistent and abnormal results.
+ Review accuracy and completeness of results prior to releasing in the Laboratory Information System.
+ Complete routine and STAT testing within acceptable turnaround time guidelines.
Essential Skills
+ Associate degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or related life science.
+ Formal training in Histology from an accredited program (720 hours).
+ State Licensure where applicable (Florida requires licensing).
+ Meet CLIA personnel standard criteria.
+ Skills in microtomy, grossing, processing, embedding, cutting, and routine special staining techniques.
+ 1-3 years of experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Associate's Degree in medical technology, chemistry, biology, or other life science.
+ Histology licensure (ASCP - 720 hours program) OR 4 years' experience.
Work Environment
The position is 100% onsite in Miami, in a lab environment, working as part of a team. The lab is located on the 6th floor, with the shift running from 10pm to 6:30am (third shift).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Miami, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
