Job Summary
The OSP Designer is responsible for creating and maintaining detailed design drawings and documentation for outside plant telecommunications projects. This role involves planning fiber optic and copper cable routes, preparing construction drawings, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. The designer collaborates with engineers, project managers, and field teams to deliver accurate and cost-effective designs.
Key Responsibilities
+ Design & Drafting
+ Develop OSP designs including fiber routes, conduit layouts, and pole attachments using CAD/GIS tools.
+ Prepare detailed construction drawings, splice diagrams, and BOMs.
+ Update and maintain records in design databases and mapping systems.
+ Project Coordination
+ Work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure design feasibility and constructability.
+ Review site survey data and incorporate findings into design plans.
+ Support permitting processes by providing accurate drawings and documentation.
+ Compliance & Standards
+ Ensure designs meet local, state, and federal regulations, as well as client standards.
+ Apply knowledge of NESC, NEC, and other relevant codes.
+ Quality Assurance
+ Perform self-checks and peer reviews to maintain accuracy and completeness.
+ Respond to redlines and revise designs promptly.
Qualifications
+ Education: Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
+ Experience:2+ years in OSP design or telecommunications drafting.
+ Skills:Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or GIS-based design tools.
+ Understanding of fiber optic and copper network design principles.
+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Pay dependent on experience.

This is a Permanent position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
