About the Indiana State Library:
The Indiana State Library and Historical Bureau is a public library building, located in Indianapolis, Indiana. It is the largest public library in the state of Indiana, housing over 60,000 manuscripts. Established in 1934, the library has gathered a large collection of books on a vast variety of topics.
Role Overview:
The Indiana Talking Book & Braille Library provides free library service to anyone in the state of Indiana who is blind, visually impaired, physically handicapped in such a way that they are unable to use a regular book, or has a reading disability. The books are sent to our patrons through the United States Postal Service. The Library Tech 2 – Machine Shop position is responsible for care and circulation of the collection of braille books, the digital talking book players, and the braille e-readers.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $34,216.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
Job Duties:
+ Circulation:
Provides daily circulation assistance by pulling and checking out assigned materials in the morning and checking in returned materials in the afternoon.
+ Care of Braille books
Maintains the braille book collection by shelving books, maintaining braille supplies, and repairing damaged books to the best of their ability.
+ Care for equipment
Maintains the digital talking book machines and braille e-readers and has them ready for patron use.
+ Mail
Maintains the integrity of the mail by transporting mail tubs to and from the loading docks each day.
+ Stacks Maintenance
Spends at least four hours every month on the building-wide shelf maintenance project by cleaning, organizing, and shifting library collections as needed in the assigned area of the library until the assigned area has been completed.

Provides back-up for Library Tech 2 – Duplication on Demand
