    Job Title: Prototype CNC Machinist

    Job Description

    The Prototype CNC Machinist is responsible for engineering, manufacturing, and fabricating new parts, retrofitting and repairing components based on prints or samples to meet customer specifications.

    Responsibilities

    + Engineer machining processes using experience and company best practices.

    + Program, set up, and machine parts from billet and plate materials.

    + Use CAD tools (Fusion 360, PowerShape) and CAM software (Fusion 360) for design and programming.

    + Design and build machining fixtures for secondary operations.

    + Set up tooling and CNC machines for prototype castings and raw stock.

    + Run setup parts through operations and collaborate with quality for approval.

    + Complete machining operations, deburring, cleaning, and packaging.

    + Tear down tooling and clean mills post-production.

    + Assist in machining production tooling components as needed.

    + Communicate job progress and potential delays with the Project Manager.

    + Participate in material management (Kan-ban system).

    + Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

    + Add frames, cleats, & trunnions as necessary to prototype pattern tooling.

    + Make changes to tooling and rigging as required.

    + Ensure jobs are completed efficiently, aligning with quoted hours and material estimates.

    + Complete jobs on schedule, providing timely updates on delivery status or delays to the Project Manager and Lead.

    + Advise the Lead of any issues.

    + Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tasks assigned by management and the team lead.

    + Comply with the rules and guidelines outlined in the Pattern Work Instruction SOPs.

    + Cross-train with mold building and other relevant jobs.

    + Work in a safe manner.

    + Maintain competency and proficiency with the tools and processes being used.

    Essential Skills

    + Blueprint reading.

    + CNC programming with 2+ years of experience using Fusion 360 and PowerShape software.

    + Experience with casting.

    + Tool and die skills.

    + Troubleshooting abilities.

    + Sanding and grinding proficiency.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Ability to multi-task and cross-train on multiple duties within the group or as needed elsewhere.

    + Team player and self-motivated worker.

    + Preference given to candidates with experience in the listed tasks.

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
