WiSM ARC Seminar Overview:
The WiSM ARC is a dynamic community designed for students exploring careers in science, math, and related fields. Participation in this community helps students cultivate meaningful relationships with like-minded peers and build a supportive, close-knit community of students interested in science and math.
As part of the WiSM ARC, students enroll in a seminar exploring the intersection of science, well-being, society, and gender. This two-term sequence offers students the opportunity to meet campus professionals and network, engage with undergraduate research, develop scientific thinking and communication skills, and understand the societal implications of scientific advancements. The seminar is complemented by a series of co-curricular events to further the community connections and sense of belonging among students. These include programming within Unthank Hall, study sessions with a peer mentor, field trips to the Pine Mountain Observatory, opportunities to meet with ARC Alumni, and more. The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in assisting with various aspects of the course and designing and executing cocurricular events.
