    The Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies (CNAIS) within the Graduate School at CU Boulder invites applications for The Temporary CNAIS Program Coordinator position! This role is responsible for implementing program activities and policies guided by the CNAIS Faculty Director, leading daily operations, and providing administrative support. This role supports students, departments, programs, and other CU centers, and collaborates with the Graduate School, VCAA Financial Service Center (FSC), Strategic Relations & Communications (SRC), and other academic and administrative offices. Alongside the CNAIS Faculty Director, this role also partners with organizations on and off campus to develop a community for Native American students, faculty, and staff at CU Boulder.

     

    The role reports to the center's Faculty Director. The center is supervised by the Dean of the Graduate School and guided by an external board. This position supports the CNAIS Faculty Director and Executive Board to develop CNAIS' programs and implement the CNAIS mission and vision. This is a temporary staff position working up to 40 hours per week in a hybrid mode that includes both remote work and on-campus work. Occasional evenings/weekends are also required.

    Who We Are

     

    The Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies provides Native students and faculty an intellectual and social home at CU Boulder. We promote collaborative research focusing on both local and global Indigenous knowledge and foster wide ranging NAIS projects that aim to open conversations both in Colorado and the world.

     

    What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

     

    The Temporary CNAIS Program Coordinator for The Center for Native American & Indigenous Studies (CNAIS) supports the CNAIS office and the center's efforts to cultivate and promote collaboration and research on Native & Indigenous knowledge at CU Boulder.

    Programming

    + At the guidance of the CNAIS Faculty Director, ensure successful implementation and completion of program activities, such as fellowships & scholarships, research support, faculty and grad student awards, recruitment/retention, and community outreach and activities.

    + Handles Native American & Indigenous Studies Certificate, including promotion, supporting center leaders with awarding and declaring decisions, coordinating with faculty on courses and updating course catalog, tracking progress of participating students, and adjusting degree audits if needed.

    + Support the CNAIS Faculty Director in building and maintaining relationships and projects with campus an community partners, such as; partnering with AVC for Native American Affairs, collaborating with Program Manager for Native Students in Student Affairs, and when approved or delegated by the CNAIS Faculty Director, representing CNAIS on university committees related to Indigenous initiatives and serving as a liaison to regional Native organizations and academic networks alongside the Director.

    + Coordinate and supervise events, including scheduling, arranging travel, reserving spaces, catering, renting equipment, preparing publications and advertising, etc.

    + Collaborate with the Director of Communications in Strategic Relations & Communications on strategic comms planning and reputational promotion via CRM and newsletter management.

    + Handle daily communications and marketing, including website, social media, listservs, and event promotions.

    + Support the CNAIS Faculty Director in developing and implementing policy decisions and programming initiatives

    Operations

    + Serve as office manager and point of contact for questions and concerns from faculty, staff, students, community partners and visitors, handling the center's calendars, supervising student worker(s), and maintaining office supplies, equipment, and subscriptions & memberships

    + Support the center's advisory boards, including scheduling meetings, preparing and distributing forms and information packets, taking meeting minutes, and carrying out decisions

    + Implement internal processes and procedures to ensure the center runs smoothly and efficiently directing the flow of information and anticipating problems

    + Serve as the center's primary liaison to campus service units, including but not limited to Parking & Transportation Services, Facilities Management and Office of Information Technology

    + Coordinate event and program budgets for daily financial activities in a manner consistent with fiscal policies and procurement procedures

    + Coordinate procurement and travel working closely with the Graduate School and VCAA Financial Service Center (FSC) to process expense reports, reimbursements, honorarium payments, purchase orders, and other purchasing forms including establishing contracts with outside speakers, guests and suppliers

     

    What You Should Know

     

    This is a temporary hybrid role requiring a minimum of two in-office days per week. The position follows regular business hours, with occasional evenings and weekends. Depending on the team needs, this role could work between 20 - 40 hours a week.

     

    What We Can Offer

     

    The hourly rate for this temporary position is $29-$32.

    What We Require

    + A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute

    + 1-2 years of relevant experience with program management in higher education, including event planning, communications & marketing, and collaboration

     

    What You Will Need

     

    Experience working with Native and Indigenous communities, including understanding of tribal sovereignty, cultural traditions, and historical context
