Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, the Integrated Planning and Execution (IPE) team drives the early-stage planning and acquisition functions that will enable the cloud of tomorrow.
We are seeking an Azure SQL Database Administrator that will oversee the long-term strategy as well as the day-to-day operations of the Azure SQL Database architecture with multi-region replication and failover support. In addition, this role will also require data engineering skills in Azure Data Factory and Fabric, to build and support the development of data and reporting solutions for the people who are powering the cloud.

Responsibilities
+ Your day-to-day responsibilities will be overseeing the Azure SQL Server architecture that supports business intelligence solutions. In addition, building data engineering solutions that support planning executives, analysts and program managers along with business decision making across all aspects of the planning functions within the IPE organization.
+ Azure SQL Database Administrator, performance tuning and indexing, replication and failover support.
+ Be a very experienced SQL developer, in areas such as indexing, partitioning and procedure development.
+ Build and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines to in a business-production environment.
+ Build and maintain success/failure pipeline monitoring through Logic Apps, Azure alerts, and Azure Incident and Change Management (ICM). Be very familiar with Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) Gen2.
+ Build and maintain Fabric dataflows and other ingestion pipelines through that platform.
+ Perform on-call and backup on-call duties, rotating with the team on a regular basis, working incidents during this time.
+ Work closely with the Business Intelligence team, program managers and stakeholders to gather detailed requirements, prioritize Azure DevOps (ADO) work items, and drive good design.
+ Collaborate with the Access Control team to ensure compliance and data security.
+ Collaborate with multiple engineering teams when building ingestion pipelines.
+ Drive continuous improvement through good documentation, adherence to agile methodology, and commitment to measuring success.
+ Remain current and up to date on technologies supporting AI through Copilot, proactively participating in efforts to document and promote best practices.

Qualifications
Required/minimum qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field AND 3+ years experience in technical program/product management, coding, software development/delivery work
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of customer-facing experience
+ 2 years of experience as an Azure SQL Database Administrator, including performance tuning, indexing, procedure development, partitioning, replication, and failover support, building and maintaining Azure Data Factory pipelines in a production environment.
+ 2 years experience navigating and managing resources through the Azure Portal, including configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of services such as Azure SQL Database and Data Factory.

+ **Microsoft Cloud Background Check:** This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
+ **Citizenship & Citizenship Verification:** This position requires verification of citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions. Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local the United States government agency customers and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law. + 3+ years of customer-facing experience.
+ Advanced SQL development experience, including indexing, partitioning, and stored procedure optimization.
+ Hands-on experience building and maintaining **Azure Data Factory (ADF)** pipelines in a production environment.
+ Ability to design robust ETL workflows for large-scale data operations.
+ Skilled in implementing success/failure monitoring for pipelines using **Azure Logic Apps** , **Azure Alerts** , and **Azure Incident and Change Management (ICM)** processes.
+ Demonstrated troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
Customer Solutions Architecture IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
