The Windows, Platform & Developer (WPD) team, a part of the Windows + Devices (W+D) engineering organization, is looking for a **Software Engineer II** to join with us to build and ship Windows Desktop/operating systems(OS). We are part of developer & experience team which is responsible for building tech to empower developer ecosystem and shipping cutting edge experiences in Windows. You will play a key role in open-ended explorations, prototyping and influencing business opportunities for future customers of Windows.

This role requires someone with platform/OS, device development, artificial intelligence(AI), machine learning(ML) experience and who can dig into a variety of codebases to get the job done.

Responsibilities
+ Design, implement, debug, and stabilize platform level components to support windows desktop OS.
+ Work closely with partner teams in Office, Services, other Windows partners.
+ Become proficient on the existing architectures and codebases.
+ Collaborate and communicate effectively with other engineers, program managers and data scientists working on the project.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of experience collaborating across cross-functional teams and the ability to drive clarity and results in ambiguous situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Experience in software engineering and quality assurance, with understanding of the complete software development lifecycle.
+ Experience using a data driven approach to software engineering
+ Proficient in coding and debugging skills in modern object-oriented languages (C++/C#)
+ Experience with AI/ML and related technologies
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
