    The Microsoft Purview Team is responsible for a broad suite of data governance, data security, compliance, privacy, and risk management solutions across Microsoft 365, Azure, and multi-cloud environments.

     

    We are looking to hire a Principal Product Manager, Small and Medium Business (SMB) for the Purview team. You will define the roadmap, align cross-organizational partners, and engage directly with customers and the market to surface unmet needs, synthesize telemetry and qualitative feedback, validate market opportunity, and evaluate tradeoffs and release criteria with Business Teams, and Engineering. You’ll translate these insights into prioritized investments, clear OKRs/KPIs and release criteria, and a roadmap.

    Responsibilities

    + Drive strategic planning and execution of large-scale programs aligned with Purview’s objectives and compliance standards.

    + Define program scope, goals, and deliverables through collaboration with engineering, product, compliance, and customer success teams.

    + Lead data governance, privacy, and compliance initiatives across the organization.

    + Monitor and report program progress, risks, and outcomes to leadership with actionable insights and recommendations.

    + Foster innovation and operational excellence within program teams to ensure continuous improvement.

    + Mentor and develop other program managers, promoting knowledge sharing and talent growth.

    + Engage stakeholders and customers to gather feedback and ensure successful adoption of Purview solutions.

    + Ensure alignment with regulatory and business requirements, mitigating risks proactively.

    + Drive cross-functional collaboration to achieve program milestones and resolve challenges effectively.

    + Champion best practices in program management, leveraging metrics and tools for efficiency and impact.

    Qualifications

    Required/minimum qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 6+ years of experience in Product and Program Management, delivering technical products in partnership with engineering teams.

    + 6+ years of experience disrupting markets for a product, feature, or experience (competitive displacement, replacing established products).

    + 3+ years of experience in product marketing, partner marketing, or go-to-market strategy in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) space.

    Other Requirements

    Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

     

    + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Additional or preferred qualifications

    + Master's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

    + OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Math, Business, or related field AND 12+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + 8+ years of experience in Product and Program Management, delivering technical products in partnership with engineering teams.

    + Channel marketing experience or Small Medium Business marketing experience

    + 3+ years of experience in product marketing, partner marketing, or go-to-market strategy in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) space.

    + Experience interpreting data and customer insights to inform strategy and measure impact.

    + Deep understanding of software and business technology markets, trends, and dynamics

    + Demonstrated ability to excel in an innovative, startup-like, fast-paced environment, with rapid exploration and ability to execute.

    + 5+ years of experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (design, product-market fit, launch, internal tools/frameworks).

    + 7+ years of experience defining/improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience (customer growth, usage expansion, churn reduction).

    + 7+ years of experience disrupting markets for a product, feature, or experience (competitive displacement, replacing established products).

    + 8+ years of experience managing complex projects involving multiple partners, with proficient skills in project management, leadership, dependency management, and cross-group collaboration.

    + 5+ years of experience building technical products with engineering partnership and articulating requirements from a tenant perspective.

    + 5+ years managing programs across a matrixed stakeholder set, including planning, managing timelines, tracking progress, and change management experience.

    + 2+ years’ experience with active participation in sales, sales operations/management, account management, program management, business development, marketing, consulting, or a related field or equivalent experience.

    + 5+ years of experience using data to drive business outcomes or inform business decisions.

    + 5+ years of experience managing relationships with stakeholders, clients, and/or customers

    + 5+ years of experience with data-based storytelling that has impacted organizational strategy.

    + 5+ years of experience in strategic business planning, including market analysis, resource modeling, and service level definition.

     

    Customer Experience Program Mgmt IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
