The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s office serves both Adams and Broomfield Counties.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION:
This position provides essential administrative and programmatic support to two divisions within the District Attorney’s Office — the Victim Witness Unit and the Victim Programs Unit. The position is evenly split between both units, offering an opportunity to assist victims and witnesses while supporting key programs and boards that serve our community. The successful candidate will deliver exceptional customer service to victims contacting the Victim Services Unit and provide administrative support to the Victim Programs Unit.
Examples of Duties for Success
Specific duties for the Victims Programs Unit portion of the position:
+ Assist in preparing for VALE (Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement) and Crime Victim Compensation (CVC) Board meetings.
+ Attend meetings and accurately document key discussions and decisions.
+ Maintain organized and accessible documentation of all written reports required or requested by the Board.
+ Review and summarize grant application proposals.
+ Provide technical assistance and training as needed.
+ Process invoices and related documentation for reimbursement of grant recipients.
+ Compile statistical data and prepare written reports.
+ Create and maintain spreadsheets and databases for program tracking and reporting.
+ Process applications and written notifications for claimants and service providers regarding claim status, approvals, denials, and payments.
+ Perform bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices, treatment plans, and payment requests.
+ Provide administrative support to CVC, VALE, and Restitution staff as needed.
+ Support the Director of Victim Services Programs and perform other duties as assigned.
Specific duties for the Victims Witness Unit portion of the position:
+ Serve as the first point of contact for the District Attorney’s Office by greeting visitors to the Victim Witness Unit, assisting with check-in, and connecting them with appropriate staff members.
+ Foster a welcoming and supportive environment, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity when interacting with individuals who may have experienced trauma or are navigating crises.
+ Answer incoming phone calls promptly and courteously, accurately relay information, and route calls to the appropriate staff.
+ Maintain an inventory of office supplies, place orders, receive deliveries, and restock materials.
+ Provide general administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient operations within the Victim Witness Unit and the District Attorney’s Office.
+ Collaborate daily with the administrative partner to ensure consistent front desk coverage, effective communication, and smooth office operations.
+ Support the Director and Deputy Director of Victim Witness and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
+ High school graduation or equivalent required; college credit and/or bachelor's degree preferred.
+ Two years of clerical experience, preferably in the legal field and/or two years of experience in a position with a high degree of public contact
+ Experience in the fields of criminal justice, social work, human services or related field may be substituted for educational requirements.
+ Two (2) years of clerical experience in a legal office or any equivalent combination of experience or education that satisfy the requirements of the job.
More Qualifications for Success
+ Type 60-70 w.p.m. with accuracy.
+ Bilingual Spanish/English language skills preferred.
+ Primarily sedentary physical work requiring ability to lift a maximum of 40 pounds; occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing; frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and members of the public.
