    As a **Sr Research Scientist-Inhaled Drug Delivery/MDI** here at Solstice, you will be responsible for driving innovation and developing cutting-edge technologies that align with our strategic priorities.     Solstice Advanced Materials Sustainability & Decarbonization is expanding its presence in pharma and life sciences through sustainable aerosol propellants, high-purity materials, and high-performance packaging. As part of our continued growth in healthcare and life sciences, we are seeking a motivated early-career Research Scientist to join our team focused on inhaled applications.

     

    In this role, you will contribute to the development and testing of inhaled formulations using Solstice Advanced Materials Air medical propellant. You’ll work closely with experienced scientists and cross-functional teams to support technical projects, build industry knowledge, and help advance sustainable solutions in respiratory therapies.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assist in technical evaluations and provide data-driven insights to help customers adopt Solstice Advanced Materials Fluorine Products’ propellants in inhaled applications.

    + Contribute to the development of metered dose inhaler (MDI) formulations using Solstice Advanced Materials propellants; perform lab testing and analysis following established protocols.

    + Participate in research activities aimed at generating new knowledge and supporting intellectual property initiatives under the guidance of senior scientists.

    + Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support regulatory submissions and industry engagement efforts.

    + Help identify opportunities in medical aerosol applications and assist in early-stage product development activities in coordination with commercial and technical teams.

    + Work closely with multidisciplinary teams across R&D, regulatory, and commercial functions to support project goals and timelines.

    + Prepare technical documentation, contribute to presentations, and communicate findings to team members and stakeholders.

    + May travel up to 10% annually for training, customer support, or participation in industry events.

    + Provide technical expertise in the design, development, and testing of innovative solutions

    + Mentor and guide a team of R&D engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence

    + Drive innovation by identifying new technologies and methodologies

    + Conduct research to generate intellectual property (IP) and contribute to patent applications

    + Evaluate emerging technologies for their applicability to current and future projects

    + Conduct technology assessments to inform strategic decisionmaking

    + Support the transfer of technology from R&D to manufacturing or production teams

    + Identify and assess technical and projectrelated risks

    + Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies

    Qualifications

    YOU MUST HAVE:

    + Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.

    + 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, preferably with exposure to aerosol or inhalation products.

    WE VALUE:

    + Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, biology, or a related field.

    + Foundational understanding of pharmaceutical actives and excipients, especially in respiratory or inhaled therapies.

    + Exposure toMDI formulation development through coursework, internships, or early career experience.

    + Interest in intellectual property and innovation, with a willingness to learn about IP strategy and patent processes.

    + Experience working in laboratory environments, including academic, internship, or entry-level industry settings.

    + Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or other regulated environments is a plus.

    + Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas in written and verbal formats.

    + Self-motivated and eager to take initiative in technical projects with guidance and mentorship.

    + Collaborative mindsetand ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

    + Problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn from challenges.

    + Experience with experimental design and documentation (e.g., lab notebooks, protocols, or SOPs).

    + Willingness to relocate to the Buffalo, NY area.

    COMPENSATION

    The annual base salary range for this position is $114,000 - $136,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Solstice Advanced Materials considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
