    ### Job Duties

    Kind of Work

     

    Responsible administrative and supervisory work assisting in the administration of the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) center, radio communication systems and emergency preparedness for St. Louis County.

     

    St. Louis County does not participate in E-Verify. All employees must be continuously authorized to work in the United States, for St. Louis County, on a full-time basis. St. Louis County does not provide sponsorship for employment visas.

    Distinguishing Features of Work

    An employee in this class is responsible for assisting in the administrative operations of the St. Louis County PSAP center, radio divisions and emergency management. Duties include establishing, evaluating and maintaining work policy and procedures; managing, mentoring, and coordinating professional development for staff; collaborating with various agencies; reviews and evaluates compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. This class has moderate authority to address and resolve operational issues, leverage emerging technology, and manage personnel related matters. The work is performed under the direction of assigned supervisory staff.

     

    ### Minimum Education Required

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Pass/Fail):

    Bachelor’s Degree in management, business administration, a public safety related degree program, or a related four-year academic degree program AND three (3) years full-time paid work experience in a public safety position (emergency services management, emergency communications, sworn peace officer, firefighter, emergency medical) or equivalent as determined by the director of human resources and administration.

     

    Possession of a valid driver’s license.

     

    Must possess State of Minnesota certification requirements as an Emergency Manager within two (2) years of date of appointment or be terminated from the position.

     

    NOTE: Master’s Degree in management, business administration, a public safety related master’s degree, or a closely related field, as determined by the Director of Human Resources and Administration, may be substituted for one (1) year of the work experience requirement.
