Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a **Principal/Sr. Principal Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer** . This position is located in **Roy, UT** and supports the Sentinel Program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You Will Get To Do:

+ Review and interpret existing and proposed environmental, health, safety & sustainability (EHS&S) regulations to determine applicability and impact for sites.

+ Assist with implementation of programs to comply with EHS&S regulations.

+ Partner with business leaders to continuously improve the culture, awareness, and accountability in support of EHS&S programs.

+ Assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS&S programs to ensure compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.

+ Complete audits, IH sampling, ergonomic assessments, and assist in pollution prevention activities. Interfaces with regulatory representatives, senior management, the site EHS&S Committee.

+ Assists with the implementation of EHS&S management systems at the site level.

+ Additional roles and responsibilities may include: Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies.

+ Provide timely and accurate submission of necessary reports to the company and regulatory agencies.

+ Write and update EHS&S plans and procedures.

+ Apply for new permits and renewals.

+ Conduct compliance inspections and identify actions necessary to meet regulatory requirements.

+ Coordinates EHS&S training for employees and conducts instructor-led EHS&S training.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

+ **Principal EHS Engineer:** Bachelor of Science degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or a related field and 5 years of experience; or a Master of Science in the same disciplines with 3 years of relevant experience; or a PhD of Science in the same disciplines with 1 year experience.4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.

+ **Sr. Principal EHS Engineer** : Bachelor of Science degree in safety, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental science, or a related field and 8 years of experience; or a Master of Science in the same disciplines with 6 years of experience; or a PhD of Science in the same disciplines with 4 years of experience. 4 additional years may be considered in lieu of degree.

+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.

+ Experience in assessing sub-contractor safety programs for compliance.

+ Experience in conducting worksite analysis and/or hazard prevention and control.

+ Experience in assessing facilities design reviews for Environmental, Health, Safety and Sustainability needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Master of Science (MS) degree in industrial hygiene, safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related field, or currently enrolled in an M.S. degree program.

+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

+ EHS experience in manufacturing.

+ Experience managing various EHS compliance programs (with an emphasis on occupational safety programs, such as chemical safety/hygiene, ergonomics, lockout/tagout, contractor safety, confined space, fall protection, respiratory protection, incident investigations, etc.) based on the review and interpretation of EHS regulations and company policies & procedures.

+ Experience working with EHS management systems such as Cority, Intelex, Velocity EHS, etc.

+ Experience conducting personal protective equipment assessments and job hazard analysis.

+ Experience in conducting training for crane, fall protection, and forklift operations.

+ Ammunition/Explosives safety.

+ Excellent written and oral communication skills.

+ Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvements and to develop and implement more efficient and enhanced programs.

+ Computer based skills specifically with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point programs.

+ Experience with Hazardous waste shipments.

+ Experience conducting engineer design reviews for manufacturing and production tooling.

+ Ability to analyze complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources.

+ Consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems.

+ Mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively and developing innovative solutions based on sound scientific principles.

+ Ability to perform job duties without direct supervision.

+ Previous experience using collaboration skills with all levels of an organization.

+ Proven ability to perform job duties with general direction and supervision and to provide technical solutions to complex problems based on sound safety principles.

+ Able to Travel as needed.

Primary Level Salary Range: $95,800.00 - $143,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $119,200.00 - $178,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
