Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is hiring a Configuration, Design and Integration Engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida.
The team member will perform Aircraft Configuration Design and Integration activities within an Air Vehicle Integrated Product Team (IPT) working with related disciplines including Airframe Structures, Subsystems, Aerodynamics, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Vehicle Performance, Propulsion, Mass Properties, Guidance Navigation & Control (GNC), and other IPT’s such as Mission Systems, Survivability, Manufacturing, and Product Support.
Responsibilities may include:
+ Support configuration and integration trades studies, design maturation, and tracking of changes to the overall air vehicle configuration
+ Preparation of Computer Aided Design (CAD) models, such as preliminary design vehicle layouts, general arrangement, master definition geometry, and inboard profile definition for subsystems and payload integration onto military aircraft
+ Support vehicle design trade studies in conjunction with multiple team members and stakeholders working to solve complex vehicle design challenges
+ Support zone management by participating in frequent design reviews to mature air vehicle physical integration through layout phases leading toward detailed design and release with stakeholder concurrence
+ Ensure physical integration layouts are compatible with vehicle environments and constraints (size / fit, weight, power, cooling, loads & dynamics) while meeting overall performance objectives and mission effectiveness requirements
Basic Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2 years of relevant experience; OR Master of Science (MS) and 1 year of relevant engineering experience
+ Demonstrated proficiency with an industry-standard CAD tools such as Siemens NX or CATIA
+ Must have an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
+ Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications
+ BS or MS Degree in Aeronautical or Aerospace Engineering
+ Experience supporting the design and modeling of advanced air vehicle concepts
+ Experience with aircraft design, build, fly project through degree program or within the industry
+ Aircraft Outer Mold Line (OML) loft surfacing experience in a 3-D CAD program
+ Exposure to related Air Vehicle disciplines such as Airframe Structures, Subsystems, Aerodynamics, CFD, Vehicle Performance, Propulsion, Mass Properties, and GNC
+ Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with multiple IPT’s and all levels of employees and management

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
