The office of the John H. Martinson Honors College is the lively center of admissions, programming, and academics for our community of ~650 undergraduate citizen scholars who represent all majors, schools, and colleges at Rowan University. We are seeking a full-time Professional Services Specialist to support our efforts to provide enhanced educational experiences both in and outside the classroom.
Reporting directly to the Dean of the Martinson Honors College, the Student Engagement Coordinator (SEC) manages Honors students’ co- and extracurricular experiences from their first-year through graduation. The SEC oversees all co-curricular programming for the college, including Honors Participation events, field trips, and other college wide events. The SEC also advises the Honors Student Organization and all Honors Groups, guiding them in their event planning & implementation. The SEC plays a leading role in the Honors community, which is comprised of students, faculty, staff, and administration.
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Oversee the Honors Participation program; approve all Think, Thrive, & Share events, create & distribute weekly newsletter outlining all events, maintain public calendar of all events, create and distribute end of semester form for students to submit events, review & grade all form submissions.
+ Take the lead in planning and implementing all co- and extra-curricular student activities, both on- and off-campus, in conjunction with the Dean, Assistant Dean, and Honors Student Organization [HSO]. Activities include on-campus academic and social events as well as trips to museums and theaters in Philadelphia, New York, and Washington DC. Responsibilities will include, but are not be limited to event planning for small and large groups of students, faculty, and administrators
+ Create, distribute, and manage Honors marketing materials and content calendar including but not limited to flier and document creation for both print and digital needs, targeted email marketing to both internal and external groups for both programing and recruitment needs, and social media management.
+ Guide and oversee the Honors Student Organization; advise each student weekly during the semester; assist them in creating, planning, and executing appropriate co- and extracurricular events for the entire college
+ Oversee and advise all Honors clubs; manage club proposal process and insure clubs maintain Honors’ organizational standards
+ With the Assistant Dean, assist with alumni communication, outreach, and organization
+ Along with the Assistant Dean, maintain, track, analyze, and utilize student engagement data
+ Support the Dean, Assistant Dean, and Honors Student Organization in research and program development
+ Meet professional obligations through a strong work ethic including meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, and coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner while demonstrating respect for others
+ Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
+ Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree
+ At least 1 year professional experience in higher education
+ Experience with data management
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree
+ Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of administration
+ Understanding of programming best practices
+ Advising of student organizations and leadership roles
+ Event management experience
+ Experience working with college students
+ Skilled in preparation of clear, concise and complete analyses, proposals, reports and other written materials
+ Ability to analyze complex administrative and technical issues and make appropriate recommendations for action
+ Ability to efficiently coordinate multiple projects under the pressure of deadlines
+ Effective verbal and written communication
+ Strong customer focus
Salary & Benefits:
+ In compliance with The State of New Jersey's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is AFT: Range 18 ($55,142 Min to $63,410 Step 4), with placement within the range determined by candidate's qualifications, professional experience, internal equity, and other factors.
+ For internal applicants, salary is determined per the Pay Adjustment formula (NJAC 4A:3-4.9 & 4.10)
