As an Advanced APU Controls Systems Engineer here at Honeywell, you will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and integrating highly complex control systems for the Engines & Power Systems APU business. You will utilize your expertise in engineering to design and optimize the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) control system, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of our APUs. Your contributions will directly impact the success of our APUs and the overall growth of our business.
You will report directly to our Senior Engineering Program Manager, and you'll work out of our Phoenix, Arizona location on a hybrid work schedule.
You will be integral in creating system solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers through a holistic organizational approach. You will have ownership of control systems at every aspect of the systems life cycle, from the front end of business development through the product end of life. You will work across disciplines within the APU business to drive growth and reach critical business milestones.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Requirements analysis and decomposition
+ Control system design, integration, and validation & verification
+ Model-based development system design
+ Customer interaction
+ Project oversight, coordination, and budget/schedule
+ Collaboration with cross-functional teams
+ Troubleshoot and resolve control system issues
+ Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
YOU MUST HAVE
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics
+ 4+ years of systems engineering experience in support of safety-critical aerospace development
+ 2 years of control system design and optimization
+ US Citizenship due to contractual requirements

+ Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering or a related field
+ Knowledge of industry standards and best practices
+ Advanced understanding of the systems development lifecycle
+ Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts
+ Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
+ Strong communication and interpersonal skills
+ Experience leading diverse and global teams
+ Experience with gas turbine engine control system components such as controller, wire harness, start motor, oil level sensor, speed sensor, temperature sensors, pressure sensors, etc.
+ Self-motivation to work with little supervision and take the initiative to complete tasks
+ Ability to change course based on new information and direction
+ Ability to multi-task
+ Ability to make autonomous decisions
