    In the US and Canada, clients leading large infrastructure projects and operating extensive networks increasingly find themselves in need of data and AI consulting services. We are seeking an experienced and visionary Regional Data and AI Leader (Associate Principal) in either the **United States or Canada** to join our Americas region! This newly created, strategic role will lead data and AI advisory services, driving business development and technical excellence across the US and Canada. You will work closely with the Digital Advisory, Software Development, Data, and Geospatial teams, collaborating with market leaders in Rail, Aviation, Water, and Energy. This role is designed for expansion, with future team-building anticipated as project workload and pipeline grow!

    The Opportunity

    • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and resources; provide oversight and guidance to staff.

    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.

    • Identify and address potential issues or risks; ensure compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.

    • Work with Market Leaders in Rail, Aviation, and Water to expand digital advisory relationships with existing clients and open relationships with new clients.

    • Lead business development strategies to win new projects and diversify services.

    • Supervise proposal and bid preparation; talk contracts and terms.

    • Identify suitable partners for major pursuits.

    • Advise clients on their data and AI strategy and implementation roadmap.

    • Develop data and AI advisory service offerings relevant to the market.

    • Advise clients on technology vendors and assist procurement to deliver on data and AI strategies.

    • Possess solid understanding of principles of data governance, information management, data architecture, and AI/ML.

    • Identify and mitigate project risks related to technical, regulatory, and contractual requirements.

    • Implement quality control measures to monitor and improve project outcomes and client satisfaction.

    • Represent Arup as a Data Strategy and AI leader with vision, innovator, and partner of choice in the marketplace. People Management / Team Leadership

    • Assess expertise in current regional digital team to support Data and AI advisory projects.

    • Upskill digital staff to support Data and AI Advisory projects.

    • Identify staffing needs and participate in recruitment and hiring.

    • Support career development through mentoring, coaching, and participation in promotion and review processes.

    • Monitor project budgets and financial performance to achieve revenue targets and profit margins.

    • Implement financial controls and risk management practices.

    Is this role right for you?

     

    • Bachelor’s degree required.

    • Minimum of 15 years’ professional experience in digital consulting, with industry recognition through awards, publications, and speaking engagements.

    • Extensive experience in directing and managing data and AI consulting projects.

    • Experience in the Rail, Aviation, and/or Water sectors in the US and Canada is preferred.

    • Proven track record in business development, client relationship management, and technical project delivery.

    **San Francisco Hiring Range** – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in SF is $220,000 to $240,000 per year. **This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary.** Please note, hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco will differ.
