Our California offices are currently seeking a Sustainability Consultant to work on projects in our Science, Industry, and Technology (SIT) business. In this role, you will develop and apply innovative sustainable design and construction strategies to high performance projects. You will be expected to demonstrate strong consulting skills to define projects and deliverables that provide value to our clients. The ideal candidate is a creative, motivated, technically-minded self-starter that can work both independently and collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams, and support a variety of sustainability, climate change, and resilience-related projects.
This role is focused first on buildings and infrastructure, and requires specific experience in the areas of sustainability, climate action, and resiliency including low energy/carbon design for buildings, low water-use design including a basic understanding of rainwater re-use and green infrastructure techniques, design for health and wellness, material impact, waste management and the connection between sustainability and resiliency.
The Opportunity
• Advise SIT clients on high performance building design and construction technologies as they relate to energy, carbon, water, materials and circular economy principles.
• Work on multiple projects of varying type and scale, in a fast-paced environment
• Use excellent communication skills to work seamlessly with design teams and non-technical clients
• Work in a high performing team environment, advising and guiding more junior team members.
• Work with clients primarily in the Science, Industry, and Technology sector.
• Develop and communicate advanced sustainable building concepts through illustrations, reports, and presentations
• Promote and ensure project work and deliverables are of the highest quality
• Develop and improve project processes and tools

Is this role right for you?
• Hold a bachelor’s degree and professional accreditations in Engineering, Environmental Science, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Professional experience within the field of sustainability is mandatory
• Have at least 4 years of relevant work experience with a proven track record of being a high performer in roles that are largely technical in nature
• Strong technical expertise and practical experience in conducting embodied carbon analyses and life cycle assessments of buildings and/or infrastructure using tools like Tally, One Click LCA, etc.
• Experience using and/or evaluating Environmental Product Declarations.
Be a LEED Accredited Professional with specialty designation (i.e., BD+C) or working towards the achievement of a specialty designation.
• Demonstrated experience assessing projects in the built environment using at least one of the following frameworks: LEED, WELL, Passive House, Living Building Challenge, FitWel, CaGBC Zero Carbon Building Standard, Toronto Green Standard, Envision.
Desired Qualifications
• Hold a master’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Practitioner experience in engineering with discipline-specific design knowledge of mechanical or electrical systems.
• Practical experience in conducting embodied carbon analyses of mechanical or electrical systems.

**_San Francisco_** **Hiring Range** – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in San Francisco is $105,000 to $115,000 per year. **This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level.** Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note, hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of San Francisco will differ.
