    We are searching for the best talent to join our MedTech team as a Scientist, Microbiology R&D, located in Raritan, NJ.

     

    Purpose: The Scientist will contribute to advancing innovation in the antibacterial medical device development industry. In this role, you will apply your scientific expertise to design, execute, and analyze _in vitro_ microbiology studies, delivering data-driven insights that support innovation in a highly regulated research environment. The position supports Front End Innovation, New Product Development and Lifecycle Management for J&J MedTech R&D.

    In accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

    + Conducting laboratory research under general supervision using established methodology, and aiding in development of new methodology.

    + Analyzing and interpreting experimental results. The candidate will summarize findings for presentations and write reports.

    + Showing a strong interest in their personal development and growth of advanced theoretical knowledge in the antibacterial medical device field of study.

    + Contributing to the development of new protocols, test methods and operating procedures

    + Performing basic and applied research in the area of medical device microbiology to answer scientific questions pertaining to biofilm formation and microbial control on medical devices.

    + Contributing to installation, validation and qualification of lab equipment, as needed, to further research capabilities.

    + Contributing to updating protocols, test methods and standard operating procedures.

    Education and Required Experience:

    + A Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or a related biological science with a minimum of (1) year experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or consumer applied microbiology is required

    + Biosafety level 2 Laboratory experience executing routine lab assays such as MIC, time kill, Zone of Inhibition, bacterial growth promotion

    + Hands-on experience with method/equipment development, optimization, qualification and validation

    + Strong understanding of GxP lab operations

    + Excellent communication, verbal, written, and presentation skills

    + Experience training and mentoring other personnel on techniques and equipment is

    Preferred Skills & Experiences:

    + MS in Microbiology or biological science with 1+ year of microbiology experience in a medical device laboratory setting

    + Understanding of Medical Device test method validations and 510K submissions

    + Direct experience with implementing and execution of experiments using USP, ISO and/or ASTM methods

    + Experience in GxP Medical Device laboratory processes including audit participation and lab equipment validation

    + Experience with ISO, USP, and/or ASTM methods

    + Experience in internal and external audits.

    + Experience in developing _in vitro_ biofilm methods

    Other:

    + This position is based in Raritan, NJ and requires up to 10% (International/Domestic) travel.

    + Must be able to work on-site five days a week

     

    The anticipated base pay range for this position is [$88,500] to [$119,000]

     

    The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
