Job Overview
The Senior Clinical Informaticist has advanced knowledge in the use of the electronic health record (EHR) and health information technology (HIT) applied to clinical care and health care business operations. They use informatics concepts, methods, and tools to promote safe, effective, and optimal use of technologies through their focus on end user support linking clinical practice, technology, and information management to enhance patient care. The Senior Clinical Informaticist functions as an on-demand resource for daily operational issues with EHR/HIT and provides virtual and on-site EHR/HIT support to a broad population of clinicians, staff, and leaders across service lines, domains, and care settings. To do this effectively, this role demonstrates strong customer service skills and applies adult learning principles in all interactions. The Senior Clinical Informaticist gives instruction, communicates clearly through both verbal and written methods, and efficiently troubleshoots issues on the fly. They create and maintain relationships with end users and perform rounding and go live/implementation support to ensure adoption and ongoing optimization of EHR/HIT use by clinicians, staff, and leaders.
Responsibilities
+ Apply broad knowledge of healthcare processes to manage and communicate data, information, knowledge, and wisdom in clinical practice and health care operations while remaining focused on the interaction of people, processes, and technology for the complete and optimal delivery of information needed for efficient, high quality and safe patient care.
+ Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and relationship management to foster intra-professional teamwork. Team with informatics, IT, and operational colleagues to assess, plan, and evaluate changes to systems and identify the impact to clinical workflows; work closely with Tier I and Tier II support teams to answer end user questions.
+ Staff the EHR/HIT End User Support chat during hours of operation; support tier 2 on-call rotation 24x7 365 days a year supporting end user how-to questions; manage and resolve incidents as assigned; prepare users for and support scheduled and unscheduled downtime events, including upgrades and releases.
+ Identify and understand best practice workflows, organizational policies, and metrics to evaluate use of EHR and recommend process improvements to advance provider and staff efficiency and proficiency of EHR/HIT use. Recommend end user competency standards for usage of the EHR.
+ Orient new team members through mentorship and completion of the on-boarding checklist. Assist in development of policy, standard operating procedures, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications
+ Bachelor of Arts in health care or related field from an accredited program, informatics degree from an accredited institution or combination of related education and experience.
+ 5 years clinical healthcare experience and/or 5 years informatics-related experience working in a health system directly with end users
+ Proven experience in a customer service type role.
+ Advanced understanding of clinical workflows and health care operations, with a working knowledge of computer systems and systems life cycle
+ Demonstrates accountability for tasks and independently completes complex work assignments on time; multitasks and prioritizes to maximize efficiency.
+ Experience mentoring, demonstrating leadership skills and leading by example.
+ Available to work scheduled on call rotations
+ Access to reliable transportation.
+ Maintain current Epic certification(s)/credential(s) per vendor requirements as identified by manager/director.
+ Obtain and/or maintain Epic certification/credentialing as identified by manager/director within 180 Days
Preferred Qualifications
+ Masters Degree in Nursing in nursing, informatics, or operational leadership
+ Doctorate in nursing, informatics, or operational leadership
+ Epic EHR use, implementations, upgrades, and/or build
+ Current Epic certification(s) and/or credential(s)
+ Industry-level certifications such as AACN, HIMSS, Lean, etc

Compensation Disclaimer
The posted pay range is for a 40-hour workweek (1.0 FTE). The actual rate of pay offered within this range may depend on several factors, such as FTE, skills, knowledge, relevant education, experience, and market conditions. Additionally, our organization values pay equity and considers the internal equity of our team when making any offer. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
