    The Department of Family Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Consultant 3 to join our team.

     

    This position is for an experienced research consultant in PRIME Lab (https://familymedicine.uw.edu/prime-lab/) who will support research efforts related to primary care and practice-based research, such as testing and implementing evidence-based treatments in primary care, improving quality improvement capacity within primary care practices and leveraging electronic health records to improve health. Research projects will include but are not limited to studies about sinusitis, integrated behavioral health, addiction, chronic pain, and loneliness, with an eye towards cutting edge transformation of primary care. Many of the studies in PRIME lab are multi-site clinical trials that require working with multiple Principal Investigators, experience developing and executing complex research procedures, and liaising with diverse stakeholders at partner institutions and clinical research sites within our practice-based network throughout the Pacific Northwest. This position will contribute significantly to quantitative data management and analysis for the lab and includes supervision of other research staff and student assistants

     

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES** **​

     

    _Database Design and Project Management (35%)_

     

    - Provide primary project management duties for quantitative data and analytics across multiple projects of moderate size/scope, including facilitation of analytic meetings, preparation of materials such as survey instruments and queues, and monitoring the completion of analytic plans

     

    - Design, maintain, and assure quality of REDCap databases with minimal supervision

     

    - Develop project timelines and preparing ongoing projections and reports on research milestones and data collection (site recruitment targets, intervention completion, etc.) to sponsor and collaborating partners

     

    - Align data collection systems and procedures with specifications from the IRB-approved protocol while also accommodating the local, contextual requirements of partnering sites

     

    - Create standard operating procedures to improve how data is collected, managed, and cleaned to implement independently or with support from other team members

     

    _Statistical and Data Analysis (25%)_

     

    - Actively engage and collaborate with numerous investigators to draft and refine plans for statistical analyses and data visualizations

     

    - Apply knowledge to appropriately execute statistical analyses according to protocol and problem solve to overcome challenges that arise related to data heterogeneity across multiple sites, missingness, etc

     

    - Conduct and/or oversee IRB-approved extraction, collation, and analysis of electronic health record data across diverse sites and create systems to harmonize these data for outcomes analyses

     

    - Integrate and link data from multiple sources including, but not limited to patient-reported outcomes, public health epidemiological data, and electronic health record data to support the research team in conducting rigorous analyses and ensure that research projects meet or exceed the requirements of the University of Washington, collaborating institutions and sponsors

     

    _External Communications and Research Strategy (20%)_

     

    - Coordinate external communications and negotiations with collaborators including project scope and specification, data collection procedures, and ongoing technical assistance

     

    - Contribute to and potentially lead the development, editing and submission of manuscripts, posters and presentations to peer-reviewed journals and academic conferences

     

    - Assist in developing conclusions, interpreting results, and strategically communicating findings to partners to promote continued collaboration and spark new research projects

     

    - Provide statistical support for the preparation of grant proposals, potentially including input on study design, power analysis, and statistical methods

     

    - Draft and spearhead the approval of formal data use agreements with collaborating sites as needed

     

    _Supervision and Mentorship (15%)_

     

    - Directly supervise a research coordinator to support quantitative data research aims by building skills, providing mentorship and creating opportunities for professional development

     

    - Train and oversee other team members responsible for data collection or curation to improve overall data quality and completeness

     

    Other duties as assigned (5%)

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    + Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of relevant experience.

     

    _Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._

    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    - Master's degree in a relevant area of study

     

    - Advanced proficiency in electronic data capture/data management tools, especially REDCap

     

    - Proficiency in an analytical software, such as R, SAS, Stata, etc.

     

    - Experience in data curation and HIPAA regulation compliance for multi-site research projects

     

    - Proficiency in standard workplace computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint

     

    - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with a multidisciplinary team and develop of shared understanding of complex data and statistical methods

     

    -4 years of relevant experience

     

    - Experience drafting and gaining approval of data use agreements

     

    - Experience supervising, training and/or mentoring other members of a research team

     

    - 2+ years of experience in statistical methods, such as linear models and mixed effects models for application to repeated measures and longitudinal data analysis, missing value imputation, inverse probability weighting, and other modern statistical learning techniques

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $68,556.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $120,000.00 annual
