• Manufacturing Engineering Intern

    Precision Metal Products, Inc. (El Cajon, CA)


    Position Summary

    Precision Metal Products is currently looking for an Engineering Intern to join our manufacturing team. The Engineering Intern will support manufacturing operations involved in the production of forged and machined components. This role will assist with various manufacturing engineering activities aimed at optimizing manpower and equipment utilization, controlling shop costs, ensuring conformance to production schedules, maintaining product quality, and promoting safety and effective housekeeping practices.

     

    Principle Duties and Responsibilities

     

    + Participate in small-scale process improvement or cost-reduction projects under supervision of senior engineers.

    + Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, maintenance, quality, supply chain, and production operators)

    + Prepare presentations, dashboards and technical reports summarizing project findings, performance metrics, and recommendations.

    + Use CAD software (Solidworks, Creo) to design tooling, fixtures and process aids.

    + Analyze data using Microsoft Excel to identify trends and improvement opportunities.

    + Support the implementation of Lean Manufacturing initiatives to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste.

    + Assist in maintaining accurate documentation such as work instructions, process instructions, and standard operating procedures.

    + Demonstrate a positive attitude, teamwork and professionalism in all interactions.

     

    Experience and Education

     

    + Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.

    + Knowledge of Creo, Solidworks, or other 3D CAD modeling software.

    + Basic ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings and CAD models.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

    + Effective communication skills (verbal and written) across all organizational levels.

    + Enthusiasm for learning and contributing to a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
