    The content coordinator and editor are responsible for coordinating, editing and maintaining written products for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) Office of Communications. Their role works to increase public, as well as staff, awareness and understanding of agency-wide initiatives through print and digital channels. They assist with communications strategies to ensure written products promote, support and enhance the image, goals, mission and vision of DPS and its divisions. They will help create and maintain a comprehensive writing strategy to increase effectiveness of DPS written communications efforts.

    _**Hybrid Eligible:** Employees may telework up to 50% or more, depending on the position and the needs of the division. Employees who live 50 miles or more from their permanent work location may be allowed to telework more than 50% with approval from the division director._

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Two (2) years of professional experience in communications, journalism or public relations.

    • Knowledge of principles, practices and techniques related to planning, composing and editing of written communications

    • Professional skills in writing and editing or proofreading.

    • Exceptional organizational and project management skills to effectively manage projects with competing priorities and timelines.

    • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel.

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to build and maintain working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience developing and implementing communications plans in a professional environment.

    • Advanced knowledge of AP style.

    • Thorough understanding of plain language principles.

    • Ability to write for a variety of formats and voices.

    • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), especially Drupal and SharePoint.

    Physical Requirements

    Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently. Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
