    This position is located at district headquarters in Roseville and has the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule that includes in office and teleworking time. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. The incumbent will be expected to work in the office as determined by policy and discussion with their supervisor.

     

    Note to applicants: The vacancy for this position is a Transportation Specialist. The posting is being announced at two different classes at the same time, Transportation Specialist and Transportation Generalist Senior. Attempts will be first made to fill the position at the Transportation Specialist level, then if not filled at the Transportation Specialist level, the position may be filled at the Transportation Generalist Senior level.

    Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:

    + Performs technical activities for MnDOT and related to the preparation and completion of right of way Limited Use Permits sufficient to maintain accuracy and project schedule.

    + Creates and maintains Utility records/files in Pacer related to design activities such that records are up to date and information can be readily retrieved.

    + Prepares exhibits and related information necessary for LUP and maintain the records in Realms.

    + Performs State and Federal aid reviews for MnDOT to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.

    + Operates ORD an 3d Modeling programs related to the preparation and viewing of CADD files pertaining to design projects.

    + Creates Gopher State one call tickets for maps and other design type items.

    + Provides assistance and direction to MnDOT staff in utilities related activities to ensure information is correct and MnDOT standards are in compliance.

    + Meets and/or communicates with the public and property owners as directed to ensure they have current and correct information regarding MnDOT right of way and utilities.

    + Conducts utility meeting for the purpose of identifying conflicts and working through relocation of utility impacts with utility companies and MnDOT Staff.

    + Maintains MnDOT business systems to ensure records are updated in data bases for Pacer (Utilities) and Realms (Right of Way)

    + Ability to understand MnDOT utility accommodation policy, apply to utility permit process, field utility related questions from; the public and MnDOT staff in timely professional manner.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications for the Transportation Specialist level:

    + Four years of experience performing duties that include inspection and processing of right of way permits, construction plan reading, surveying, design, soils assessment, traffic plan review, right of way review AND/OR water resource plan review;

    OR

    + Three years of experience performing inspection and processing of right of way permits or related activities and a combination of one year of experience in any of the TSS functional areas (e.g., construction, surveys, design, etc.)

    Minimum qualifications for the Transportation Generalist Senior level:

    • Two years of experience performing duties that include inspection and processing of right of way permits, construction plan reading, surveying, design, soils assessment, traffic plan review, right of way review AND/OR water resource plan review.

    For both the Transportation Specialist and Transportation Generalist Senior levels:

    Note: A two-year Civil or Construction Technology Degree or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).

     

    + Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

    + A valid Class D Driver’s License.

    Physical Requirements

    The physical demands of this job will vary, but may require walking, moving, standing, to a significant degree or may involve sitting most of the time with pushing and pulling of arm and/or leg controls. This job may require strenuous physical labor including but not limited to digging, shoveling, hauling, crawling, bending, pushing, pulling and climbing.
