Summary:
Meta Reality Labs is seeking a Research Scientist Intern to explore novel solutions through holography for AR/VR devices.Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.

Research Scientist Intern, Holography (PhD) Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners including communicating research plans, progress, and results.
2. Present research results and contribute to research that can be applied to Meta product development.
3. Develop next generation AR/VR displays with an emphasis on advanced simulations and experimental optics prototyping to prove new concepts and understand the factors that impact them.
4. Collaborate with the larger Meta Reality Labs Research team to explore novel solution spaces for AR/VR devices.
5. Explore the application of at least one of the following: digital holography, wave optics, diffraction optics, spatial light modulation, polarization optics, illumination, optical system design.

6. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Optical Science, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or relevant technical field
7. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
8. 2+ years of experience in at least one of the following areas: holography, diffractive optics, wave optics, optical system prototyping
9. 2+ years of experience with experimental optics and conducting laboratory work, including demonstrated ability to construct proof-of-concept systems and evaluate performance
10. Familiarity with at least one scientific programming language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, etc)
11. Intent to return to the degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op

12. Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
13. 2+ years of experience with optical design programs such as Zemax OpticStudio, Code V, LightTools, FRED, or similar
14. 2+ years of experience working with holographic materials, spatial light modulators, and interferometric exposure tools
15. Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as CLEO, SPIE Photonics West, FiO+LS, OSA, or similar

$7,313/month to $12,134/month + benefits
