Job Summary and Responsibilities
We can’t express enough how important our lab staff is to our mission and calling! As a lab assistant with CommonSpirit Health you will be assisting with a variety of procedures. You will be receiving and preparing for the tests as they come in, as well as performing some testing as allowed. Some of what you’ll do:
+ Practice positive patient identification at all times, in all job functions.
+ Practice HumanKindness and courtesy with all patient and co-worker interactions and maintain good communication within the department and throughout the hospital.
+ Take responsibility for the department workflow and assist all members of the team to maintain department workflow and efficiency creating an atmosphere that fosters teamwork and collaboration.
+ Process specimen into the lab, organized for department distribution, and move samples quickly for testing.
+ May perform allowed laboratory testing following written technical policies and procedures.
+ Evaluate and release test results under the direction of a Clinical Lab Scientist, evaluating result validity considering quality control results, instrument performance, specimen integrity and prior patient results.
+ Handle Laboratory Send-out testing, processing and organizing packing lists and packaging for testing sent to external laboratories.
+ Use good judgment when problem solving and request help when needed.
+ May perform phlebotomy, following blood collection procedures and utilizing appropriate collection techniques to obtain samples adhering to quality and quantity requirements
+ May assist with phlebotomy training under the direction of the supervisor and/or coordinator.
+ Perform routine maintenance on lab equipment and maintain records as trained.
+ Monitor department supply inventory, assist in stocking, and complete reagent logs.
Job Requirements
Required:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ BLS-CPR within 90 days of hire
+ Excellent customer service and time management skills
Preferred:
+ 6 Months experience in acute care facility
+ Lab Assistant and/or Phlebotomy certification

Pay Range
$18.51 - $26.15 /hour
