+ GENERAL SUMMARY
+ The Health Information Tech II uses knowledge of content and organization of inpatient, day surgery, emergency department and other outpatient medical records across all medical specialties at CHKD to accurately prep, electronically organize, and/or analyze medical records. Reports to department leadership.
+ ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Uses knowledge of all computer systems utilized by the Health Information Management Department to accurately manage the electronic medical record deficiency process.
+ Files and retrieves paper or electronic medical records and ancillary reports.
+ Performs quality control and validation activities to ensure all documents belong to the correct patient and account.
+ Manipulates electronic images as needed to insure that documents are organized in accordance with the forms hierarchy.
+ Maintains equipment.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
+ None required.
+ MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
+ Associates Degree in Health Information Technology or another closely related health care field required.
+ Will consider two years experience in Health Information Management performing medical record analysis, record assembly or scanning in lieu of education requirement.
+ Hospital Health Information Management Department experience preferred.
+ Interpersonal skills in order to communicate tactfully with peers and the professional staff.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of computers, specifically intermediate use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
+ Must possess a general knowledge of the content of a medical record including basic regulatory requirements.
+ Must demonstrate outstanding communication, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn.
+ Basic working knowledge of medical terminology including medical specialties.
+ Experience with Cerner imaging software preferred.
+ Attention to detail is mandatory.
+ WORKING CONDITIONS
+ Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
+ Ability to bend, stoop, reach and lift a minimum of 5 pounds.
