    + GENERAL SUMMARY

    + The Patient Care Assistant – Outpatient supports the practice clinical staff and will perform indirect patient care activities focusing on maintaining an efficient clinical environment and the systems in which outpatient nursing care is delivered. Under the general direction of a clinical lead will provide a variety of uncomplicated clinical treatments and services for assigned patients in a patient care area. Reports to the department manager.

    + ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Facilitates throughput within outpatient medical practice to include obtain vital signs and transporting patients within the outpatient medical practice.

    + Enters patient screening forms accurately into electronic health record system.

    + Performs general administrative duties to include but not limited to faxing, scanning, filing and copying.

    + Cleans and stock patient rooms and nursing stations.

    + Schedules patient appointments.

    + Provides appropriate non-clinical information to facilitate visit process.

    + Maintains supplies, equipment and instruments.

    + Performs other duties as assigned.

    + LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

    + Certification as a nurse assistant preferred.

    + Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician preferred.

    + MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    + High school graduate or GED.

    + Ability to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation.

    + Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetical or numeric systems.

    + CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.

    + WORKING CONDITIONS

    + Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like. Frequent exposure to communicable disease and moderately adverse working condition due to performance of certain patient care activities.
