    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    The William States Lee College of Engineering at UNC Charlotte is currently seeking candidates for Director of Assessment and Accreditation. This full time 12-month position provides leadership in the area of ABET and general academic accreditation, assessment, evaluation, reporting and internal research tasks within the College of Engineering.

     

    Assessment and Accreditation (50%)

     

    + Provide leadership, oversight and support to the college-wide continuous improvement process and preparation of self-study reports for accreditation or internal purposes

    + Serve as the primary contact and liaison between the College and the Office of Assessment and Accreditation and other campus organizations focused on accreditation or assessment efforts

    + Review rubrics, assessment tools, student learning outcome plans and strategic plan progress to ensure compliance with institutional and external standards and to make recommendations for improvement

    + Manage the Assessment and Accreditation Committee by setting an annual agenda, coordinating and facilitating meetings

    + Review, update and advance the continuous improvement process components (such as the Individual Course Assessment Process ( ICAP ) and the Focus Area Improvement Teams ( FAIT ) processes) to ensure robustness, responsiveness and effectiveness in driving continuous improvement

    + Provide updates on timelines and progress towards accreditation, assessments and evaluation at meetings of college leadership, such as the College Administrative Committee ( CAC ), the College of Engineering Faculty Organization ( CEFO ) and the Undergraduate Administrative Committee ( UAC )

    + Other duties as assigned

     

    College, Student and Learning Data Collection, Reporting and Analysis (50%)

     

    + Support and assist departments with preparing reports, such as self-studies, assessments and other interim reports as requested

    + Gather, maintain and provide information, data and analyses as required by college leadership for planning, strategic decision-making, self-study, accreditation,and other reporting purposes; maintain and publish (e.g., via website) a central repository of results from data collection activities within the college

    + Lead the response to requests for information and external surveys such as US News, ASEE , etc.

    + Plan, coordinate or conduct (or assist faculty and staff with the) evaluative studies of college initiatives, programming and student or program outcomes

    + Assess current data collection efforts and pursue opportunities to enhance effectiveness and streamline functionality

    + Provide support for faculty conducting educational research by consulting on and providing access to available data.

    Minimum Experience / Education:

    Minimum Education / Experience

     

    + Earned Master’s Degree from an accredited University in Educational Measurement or a related field with 3+ year experience required or PhD in Educational Measurement or similar degree field with 2+ years experience.

    + Demonstrated experience with educational program assessment, and/or third party accreditation processes

    Preferred Education Skills and Experience:

    Preferred Education / Experience

     

    + Experience with accreditation, assessment, evaluation,and/or reporting of educational programs and outcomes.

    + Expertise in both quantitative and qualitative approaches to evaluation and assessment.

    + Skills in designing, administering, and analyzing assessment instruments (e.g., rubrics, test blueprints, and alumni surveys), with ability to effectively present data in graphical format.

    + Strong statistical analysis and computing skills including MS Office, database, statistical and survey software, and contemporary digital technology knowledge.

    + Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills and effective verbal and written communication skills with strong initiative and effective organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
