Job Title: Utility Operator

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Utility Operators, responsible for learning to operate equipment associated with extrusion or tube mill processes and handling aluminum products. New hires will be trained to support operations, move materials using lifting techniques and hoists, and adhere to safe job practices while meeting quality requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Operate and assist with extrusion or casting equipment.

+ Support tube mill operations on shifts different from the extrusion department.

+ Ensure all quality objectives are met and report any unusual conditions to lead operators or supervisors.

+ Work collaboratively in a team to achieve daily production goals.

+ Adhere to union terms related to shift movement and flexibility.

+ Engage in machine operating, quality checks, packing, inspecting, and learning all departments before specializing in one.

Essential Skills

+ 1-2 years of experience in general labor, production support, or manufacturing processes.

+ Mechanical aptitude with machine operating experience encouraged.

+ Experience with production, assembly, hand tools, packaging, quality control, and machine operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Ability to learn forklift operations.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Capability to work all three shifts as required by tube mill operations.

+ Physical ability to lift weights over 15-50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally with assistance.

Work Environment

The work environment is non-climate controlled and can be loud due to machinery. The tube mill operates on steady but long shifts, typically 10-12 hours per day, 6-7 days a week, with one weekend off per month. Flexibility is required as shifts are dictated by union agreements. The facility includes both new robotic and older machinery, and employees will work around grease, oil, and hydraulic fluids as part of the metals manufacturing process.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Chesterfield, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.31 - $20.31/hr.
