    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The Central Service Manager is an ORT or Central Service Technician with comprehensive knowledge of essential elements of the Central Service process. This position is responsible for planning, organizing and monitoring activities of the unit to meet patient, physician and unit needs. The CS Manager is responsible for appropriate resource utilization in a cost effective manner. Provides an environment conducive to professional growth for personnel. Operationalizes institutional and unit goals and objectives. Reports to the Director of Surgical Services.

     

    + Directs Central Service activity reflective of institutional philosophies. Facilitates a cohesive team through collaborative practice and promotes an environment conducive to smooth operational flow.

    + Ensures compliance to all institutional and regulatory rules and regulations which facilitates a safe, clean and secure area for personnel and patients.

    + Identifies opportunities for improvement and participates on performance improvement activities. Acts as a resource for all critical elements of the Central Service Unit.

    + Monitors all Quality Control indices and reports to appropriate committees.

    + Adheres to the policies and procedures of the organization, department, and regulatory and accrediting agencies.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + Associate Degree and specialty certification (CRCST- Certified Registered Central Service Technician or CST-Certified Surgical Technician acceptable)

    + Minimum of 5 years progressive Central Service or surgery experience

    + Two years management experience preferred

    + Comprehensive knowledge of sterilization principles, theories and practices & Knowledge of new modalities of surgical techniques
