Job Summary and Qualifications
Demonstrates clinical competence to practice within Departmental Scope of Care.
Manages day to day operations of assigned nursing unit ensuring decisions, actions and group performance contributes to achievement of the unit, department, and hospital's goals and mission.
Communicates effectively with staff, peers, Clinical Coordinator, external and internal customers.
Utilizes quality improvement as basis to improve unit/departmental process.
Maintains unit readiness for regulatory surveys.
Coordinates the financial and clinical operations of assigned area(s) of responsibility and recommends sufficient number of qualified competent persons to provide care. Participates in outside source selection for needed services.
Integrates department services with the hospital’s primary function maintaining communication with medical and nursing staffs, Administration, patients, and their families/significant others.
Coordinates and integrates services within department.
Promotes the Quality Management program of the facility, maintaining appropriate quality control programs (where applicable) as well as provides recommendations for operational, clinical and financial improvements.
Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies and reports necessary noncompliance to Surgical Services Director in real time.
Assures that orientation, in-service training, and continuing education are provided for person in the department.
Develops and participates in goals and objectives for assigned area(s) of responsibility.
Ensures operational processes are efficient in meeting benchmark metrics
Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with the entire medical staff.
Assumes accountability for decisions and actions.
Pursues own professional growth and development.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in related field or Graduate of an approved CORT or Certified Surgical Assistant Program – Required
Five (5) years current surgical experience with two (2) years of supervisory experience. – Required
•Registered Nurse - Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation, or licensed as a Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA). – Required
•Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Spt (6 months grace period) and PALS (6 months grace period) – Required.
