    Overview

    The Pharmacist, Lead participates in optimizing designated pharmacy programs or operational areas to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality pharmaceutical services. This role is involved in developing and implementing protocols, leading program activities, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency. The position assists with staff development and education, including coordinating training activities and professional growth. The Pharmacist, Lead also plays a vital role in student and resident learning experiences by coordinating designated rotations and serves as a preceptor when applicable.

    Responsibilities

    + In collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership, develop, implement, and lead pharmacy services and initiatives that align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Ensure effectiveness, efficiency and continuous improvement in relevant Clinical/Operational areas.

    + Collaborate with healthcare providers, administration, and other departments to integrate pharmacy services with overall patient care strategies. Facilitate communication between pharmacy staff and other healthcare professionals.

    + Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of pharmacy services. Conduct regular audits, analyze performance metrics, and implement corrective actions as needed to ensure high standards of patient care and service quality.

    + Provides oversight and guidance for all regulatory and accreditation standards to ensure compliance as applicable. Oversees operational and functional processes to monitor for compliance and implement improvement plans to maintain compliance with all applicable standards of practice for the pharmacy.

    + Participates in quality management initiatives to maintain compliance with all pharmacy governing bodies including state boards of pharmacy, federal rules and regulations, accrediting bodies, and USP standards of practice.

    + Develops education plans to support implementation of new initiatives or reinforce existing initiatives.

    + Provides expert support to clinical and decentralized pharmacy staff and resolves issues that may arise.

    + Coordinates experiential education for students and residents as applicable. · Develops clinical pathways, care protocols, and order sets to support best practice standards.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    + B.S. Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

    Experience:

    + Specialty Pharmacy experience – at least 1 year.

    + Proficiency in navigating the electronic medical record – at least 1 year.

    License/Certification:

    + Must be licensed as a pharmacist in the state of Iowa upon hire.
