    Job Description

    The St. Cloud State University (SCSU) Psychology Department seeks applicants for a probationary position(tenure-track) with a specialization in cognitive psychology. The successful candidate must be prepared to teach undergraduate courses in Human Cognition, Research Methods, and Experimental Psychology. They must also be able to teach at least three of the following undergraduate courses: Introduction to Psychology, Statistics, Psychology of Creativity and Problem Solving, Psychology of Learning, Sensation and Perception, a senior capstone option (Topical Seminar or History of Psychology), or other courses as may suit the candidate and department.

    In order to be considered for promotion and tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to:

    1) teach and/or perform assignments effectively

     

    2) conduct scholarly research

     

    3) continue preparation and study in the discipline

     

    4) contribute to student growth and development

     

    5) provide service to the university and community (IFO Article 22, Section B).

     

    Please note that successful applicants must be eligible to work in the United States on or before the effective date of appointment. Eligibility includes being a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident, or a foreign national authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employer sponsorship. Employees must maintain work authorization without sponsorship for the duration of their appointment.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Ph.D. in psychology with specialization in cognitive psychology from an accredited university prior to first date of employment.

    + Documented successful college teaching experience in psychology (onground and/or online). Teaching assistant experience will also be considered.

    + Evidence of research potential.

    + Evidence of ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.

    + Willingness to teach courses both on campus and online (asynchronous)

    Preferred Qualification

    + Experience mentoring and working with students on research.

    + Ability to teach other courses in the Psychology Department curriculum.
