The Division of State Care Facilities is seeking a skilledMaintenance & Operations Supervisorto join our dedicated team inNampa, Idaho. Our maintenance & operational team supports several facilities serving Idaho’s most vulnerable populations. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of maintenance, custodial, and landscaping teams, ensuring facility systems operate safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, technical expertise in building systems, and the ability to manage budgets and resources effectively. This position will be located at one of Idaho's historic landmarks, the Idaho State Sanitarium Administration building, that was built in the early 1900's and is surrounded by acres of open space with beautiful gardens, wildlife, and walking paths for our employees to enjoy.
Southwest Idaho Treatment Center (SWITC) is a 24-hour facility and our mission is to support individuals in crisis to become stable, develop skills, and to successfully transition to the community. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
+ Supervise hiring, training, and performance evaluation of maintenance, custodial, and landscaping staff to maintain a skilled team.
+ Develop and manage work schedules, assigning tasks to ensure efficient daily operations.
+ Assess and determine staffing needs to meet operational demands.
+ Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify damage and coordinate timely repairs.
+ Oversee maintenance activities for HVAC, boilers, chillers, fire extinguishers, and alarm systems to ensure operational reliability.
+ Utilize and manage tools and equipment required for building maintenance and repairs.
+ Enforce compliance with safety codes and maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
+ Provide and coordinate employee safety training to uphold workplace safety standards.
+ Prepare and monitor maintenance budgets, controlling costs and tracking expenditures.
+ Manage inventory of supplies and materials, oversee ordering processes, and implement preventive maintenance schedules to extend equipment life cycle.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position. Please make sure your resume or work history supports your meeting the minimum qualifications for this position. Failure to do this may disqualify you from being considered for this position. It is highly recommended to attach a one-page cover letter to your application to demonstrate how you meet the requirements below.
+ Good knowledge of building maintenance and operations functions, energy conservation techniques, and codes and related regulations.Typically gained by at least four years of training and/or experience where required to perform a majority of building maintenance work; should involve exposure to all trades - carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting; energy conservation, etc.; following building codes and regulations.
+ Some knowledge of EPA and OSHA related safety codes and practices.Typically gained by an eight hour training course on EPA and OSHA related safety codes and practices, or related training while working in building maintenance activities.
+ Experience supervising staff and training employees in maintenance activities.Typically gained by at least one year's experience of leadwork/supervisory background including training of maintenance staff and monitoring workmanship. If you have experience supervising a larger and more diversified staff.
+ Experience performing carpentry, concrete placing, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance work and using tools associated with the trades.Typically gained by at least two years of experience in a variety of remodel or new construction projects using common carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and concrete placing equipment. If you have journey-level experience in at least one or more trades with experience using power, pneumatic, and other specialized equipment.
+ Experience scheduling and coordinating simultaneous remodel, maintenance and construction projects, reading and maintaining blueprints and plans, and evaluating maintenance needs of buildings and related facilities.Typically gained by at least two years' experience evaluating building and related facility maintenance needs; interpreting plans and blueprints; and scheduling and coordinating simultaneous remodel and construction projects. If you have experience on a variety of projects preferably in commercial construction projects.
+ Valid driver's license.
