IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.
Role Overview:
This Enterprise Storage System Administrator works with the State's enterprise storage and data protection. You will ensure that the storage data protection, hardware, and software are properly installed, configured, and maintained. You will also utilize vendor contacts and maintenance contracts to maintain high availability, plan for future growth, and identify new technologies to be adopted by the State. You will provide Network Attached Storage file services, data protection, recovery technical administration, and support. You will also provide installation support for enterprise class storage systems.
Primary technologies include Rubrik and Dell EMC PowerScale, Isilon, Data Domain, and Avamar, and other other storage platforms such as Unity. You will also use some level of administration of Storage Area Network arrays such Pure Storage and Cisco fabric switching (9148Ts and 9706).
Certification in storage-related technologies is highly preferred.
This is an on-site role at the Indiana Government Center in Indianapolis.
Salary:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $61,022 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities include:
+ Provide excellent customer service while successfully completing user requests to restore files, folders, and (Windows and Linux) server backups in a large enterprise environment.
+ Ensure data/media/server recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and archive operations.
+ Support media management through internal methods and procedures or through offsite storage and retrieval services.
+ Create SMB shares and perform basic Windows folder permission troubleshooting.
+ Migrate data, configure storage systems and monitor those systems using both Windows and Linux command line interfaces.
+ Install, configure, and maintain operating systems for DELL and Cisco UCS hardware and other Storage servers in support of information technology business requirements.
+ Conduct software installations and upgrades to operating system and layered system software packages.
+ Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
+ Work with various vendor support contacts to troubleshoot storage system issues.
+ Coordinate with vendor field engineers to receive shipped replacement parts, schedule their access to the hardware and perform system checks once parts are replaced.
+ Monitor and adjust the system to achieve optimum performance levels.
+ Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions.
+ Test, debug, and document system software upgrades and new releases also may include some program design and coding.
+ Responsible for software applications dealing with the overall operating system; such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, telecommunications networks and computer accounting.
+ Develop and promote standard operating procedures.
+ Conduct routine hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies and configuring guidelines.
+ Develop and maintain a comprehensive operating system hardware and software configuration.
+ Code, test, debug, analyze, evaluate, and document system software.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
