Description
Are you an experienced professional in surveying and right-of-way (R/W) work looking for your next challenge? We’re seeking a talented and detail-oriented Survey and R/W Specialist to join a team in Pennsylvania. This role combines critical technical expertise with field and office responsibilities to support property acquisition processes.
As a Survey and R/W Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in supporting projects tied to property acquisition and transmission line development. Specific duties include but aren’t limited to:
+ Conducting thorough reviews of abstracts and property titles to ensure accuracy and compliance with land use requirements, checking for restrictions, exceptions, easements, adverse conveyances, and rights-of-way.
+ Compiling detailed information for R/W acquisitions and easements to support internal processes.
+ Developing base maps for transmission development projects, leveraging GIS applications and surveying data.
+ Writing comprehensive, legally sound land descriptions for property or easement purchases.
+ Assisting with survey plotting and providing guidance on R/W and property plan development.
+ Ensuring precision in drawings used for legal recordings, such as deeds or agreements.
+ Interpreting aerial images, contour maps, and survey notes to assist engineers and technical staff.
+ Conducting online courthouse research as needed.
+ Reviewing base maps created by external vendors to ensure compliance with internal standards and project accuracy.
+ Preparing scopes of work and issuing requests for proposals to surveying vendors to manage R/W and base map workflows effectively.
Requirements
To thrive in this position, candidates should have the following skills and background:
+ Proven knowledge of surveying principles and practices, including algebra and trigonometry applications for survey calculations.
+ Experience in title reviews and legal deed description processes, along with the creation of supporting documentation like property drawings.
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD and Carlson software.
+ Familiarity with GIS and LiDAR data applications, as well as publicly available geographical databases (e.g., PASDA).
+ Ability to work independently, manage workloads effectively, and make sound decisions.
+ An unwavering commitment to confidentiality regarding sensitive project materials.
