    Our Alexandria, VA Office is currently seeking an entry level Civil/Structural Engineer or Mechanical Engineer. The Consulting & Design department specializes in the design, inspection, testing and installation of suspended access and fall protection equipment on commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Assist in the design, analysis, and testing of mechanical and structural systems and components.

    + Perform inspections on suspended access and fall protection equipment in accordance with OSHA, ANSI, IWCA, and ASME standards.

    + Collect field data, perform basic troubleshooting, and support senior engineers in report preparation and testimony.

    + Manage and support load testing and equipment installation projects from start to finish.

    + Perform engineering calculations for equipment and supporting structural elements (e.g., steel beams, concrete slabs, columns).

    + Generate design drawings, specifications, and certification reports.

    + Meet with clients, support proposal generation, and manage subcontractors during installations.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, project management, etc.) to support ongoing projects.

    + Follow safety guidelines and engineering best practices in both lab and field environments.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Structural Engineering.

    + Entry-level (0–2 years of experience).

    + Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on technical skills.

    + Excellent communication and organizational abilities.

    + High safety awareness and willingness to work in various industrial and construction environments.

    + Ability and willingness to work at customer sites (~50%) and travel up to 25%.

    + Comfortable working near roof edges and at heights using proper fall protection.

    + Willingness to work occasional night or weekend projects as needed.

    + Team-oriented mindset with a positive, proactive attitude.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience or coursework in structural analysis and design, including calculations for beams, slabs, and columns.

    + Familiarity with design codes and standards (AISC, ACI, IBC, etc.).

    + Exposure to industrial machinery or vehicle failure analysis is a plus.
