Job Description:
Data Visualization & Report Development & Analysis (50%)
+ Serves as a Subject Matter Expert in their assigned data domains.
+ Works with internal and external customers and technical partners to gather, validate, and write requirements for the design of BI solutions (warehouse tables, subject areas, dashboards, and other analytical tools).
+ Develops and implements optimum analytics solutions for university administration.
+ Creates visually appealing, intuitive data visualizations to communicate data insights.
+ Helps identify business needs and creates models for analysis to identify solutions. Leads projects and works with Data Stewards, Data Scientists, and other SMEs to develop analytical solutions that support the needs of the campus.
+ Creates and maintains documentation for projects and processes.
Dashboard/Report Maintenance & Quality Assurance (25%)
+ Searches for inconsistent or incorrect data and works with BI Analysts/ETL Developers to develop cleansing strategies.
+ Works with data SMEs to develop quality assurance protocols and testing scripts.
+ Tests and verifies that modeled data meets quality standards.
+ May assist with maintenance of the metadata repository or data dictionary.
+ Assists with the creation of programs to reconcile warehouse data to source system(s).
+ Supports and improves existing reports and dashboards, aligning with business and data governance practices.
Project Management (10%)
+ Develops and implements project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
+ Provides regular project status updates and communicates progress, risks, and issues to relevant stakeholders.
Training & Communication (10%)
+ Serves as an expert on campus data analytics tools.
+ Helps develop end user training materials.
+ Coaches customers on the use of analytics tools to enhance decision-making.
+ Monitors and responds to customer service tickets, tracks their progress, ensures their timely resolution and creates appropriate documentation.
+ Provides staff support and/or serves as a member on university committees.

Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree **OR** associate’s degree and two (2) years of related experience **OR** a high school diploma and four (4) years of related experience.
2. Two (2) years of experience analyzing and/or presenting data to help inform decision-making (report generation, dashboard development, etc.).
3. Two (2) years of experience with databases, Excel, or other data manipulation toolsets.
4. Strong written communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.
5. Experience giving presentations as evidenced by application materials.
6. Two (2) years of project management experience.
7. Prior work experience that required working independently and collaboratively.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree.
2. One (1) year of experience working with academic-related data (admissions, financial aid, enrollment, etc.)
3. One (1) year of experience using data visualization tools such as Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) or Tableau.
4. One (1) year of experience with programming languages supporting data analytics (SQL, SAS, R, etc.).

The University of Kansas Analytics, Institutional Research, and Effectiveness (AIRE) Office is seeking applicants for a Research Analyst position. Research Analysts in AIRE support University units in developing dashboard tools to formulate and present data for leaders for strategic planning and decision making. Analysts often work collaboratively and are assigned specific unit(s) to develop reporting solutions reflecting data analytics. It is critical that Research Analysts have an understanding of, and interest in, the specific business line they support. This role will be a member of the Academic Data Analytics team with a specific focus in Admissions, Financial Aid, and Student Success data. The Analyst will have the opportunity to work with end users to ensure data is sourced and mapped correctly, as well as assist other Analysts with data validation strategies.
The successful candidate must support an iterative or agile methodology of design and development, be sensitive to deadlines and related project plans, and have strong written and verbal communication skills in documentation as well as being able to engage with the client/customer.
