    Description

    Responsible for managing and supervising Pollution Prevention Unit staff and all associated unit functions within the Inspection and Compliance Bureau.

    Minimum Requirements

    Requirements: Must have the ability to organize and develop effective work methods, work with minimum supervision, and exercise sound and independent judgment. Must be able to establish and maintain effective work relationships with business representatives throughout the district, using tact and courtesy to gain cooperation, as well as provide guidance regarding agency, federal, and state rules and regulations. Must have the ability to ascertain and record significant facts, communicate effectively both orally and in writing, and prepare clear, sound, accurate, and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position. Must have knowledge of various grease capturing equipment and silver control/treatment technologies, along with a comprehensive understanding of both silver and grease control regulations (Sections 401 to 406.4 of PVSC’s Rules & Regulations). Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the storage, disposal, and discharge of fats, oils, grease, and silver laden solutions is required.

     

    Education: High school diploma required. Associate's degree in environmental science desirable. Related experience may be substituted for the degree.

     

    Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience as an Inspector within the Inspection & Compliance Bureau’s Pollution Prevention Unit, including three (3) years as an Inspector I. Ten (10) years of pollution prevention or industrial inspection experience may be substituted for some of the necessary requirements.

     

    Physical Demands : The applicant must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus). Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping and handling heavy objects.

     

    The expected base pay range is $100,918 to $135,039. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.

    Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.
