    Responsibilities

    The Position:

The **Senior Manager of Machine Learning** will lead end-to-end development and deployment of machine learning systems that power our connected and digital ecosystem — spanning airborne edge computing, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing applications.

This leader combines deep machine learning expertise with systems-level understanding — capable of taking models from concept to production at scale using modern distributed systems, Kubernetes, and containerized microservices. They drive both technical excellence and organizational maturity, mentoring engineers and data scientists while fostering a culture of experimentation, speed, and reliability.

    Technical Leadership & System Integration

+ Lead design and deployment of end-to-end ML systems, from data ingestion and feature engineering to production inference and monitoring.

+ Oversee modernization of legacy pipelines and integration with cloud-native architectures using Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD frameworks.

+ Ensure ML models are productionized as scalable APIs and services integrated into broader digital platforms.

+ Partner with Software, Cloud, and Data Engineering teams to design highly available, distributed ML systems on AWS or equivalent platforms.

+ Establish best practices for model lifecycle management, observability, and performance optimization.

+ Champion MLOps practices and advocate for cross-team reuse of components and data pipelines

    Strategy & Innovation

+ Develop and execute the company’s ML roadmap aligned to digital and customer experience strategy.

+ Identify opportunities where AI/ML can enhance operational efficiency, personalization, and connectivity performance.

+ Stay abreast of emerging AI trends (generative AI, LLMs, reinforcement learning, real-time inference) and evaluate their practical applicability.

+ Foster a culture of experimentation, with rapid prototyping and data-driven decision-making.

    Leadership & Talent Development

+ Lead and mentor a team of data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers — building leaders and technical depth.

+ Coach managers and senior ICs to scale their influence and technical acumen.

+ Create a high-performance environment emphasizing accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

+ Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Cloud, and Systems Engineering teams to drive alignment and shared outcomes.

+ Manage departmental budgets, capacity, and strategic planning for data and ML initiatives.

The salary range of $163,000 – $273,000 is just one component of Panasonic’s total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.

    Qualifications

    What we're looking for:

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master’s or PhD preferred.

+ 8+ years of experience in data science, software engineering, or machine learning systems.

+ 3+ years leading technical teams or managing other managers.

+ Strong background in end-to-end ML systems, including data pipelines, model development, deployment, and monitoring.

+ Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn.

+ Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, microservices, and distributed computing.

+ Expertise in cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and MLOps/DevOps best practices (CI/CD, observability, automation).

+ Proven ability to drive organizational transformation and coach senior engineers and managers.

+ Excellent communication, influencing, and cross-functional leadership skills.

+ Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 15%.

    Our Principles:

Contribution to Society | Fairness & Honesty | Cooperation & Team Spirit | Untiring Effort for Improvement | Courtesy & Humility | Adaptability | Gratitude
