Job Description
AECOM is seeking a motivated IT System Admin in LA, CA. This candidate will provide full-time onsite IT System Admin support in Pomona, CA for a major railroad client to help manage the back-office IT systems and network that support the railroad operations and train control systems. Candidate must be eager and adaptive to take on a variety of projects and systems to add functionality, security and reliability to the train control software systems, network and applications. This role requires a combination of strong technical expertise, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to support the business operations effectively.
Key responsibilities may include:
+ **Software system planning, design, implementation and support for software and technology tools used for train control and railroad operations.** May include packaged / commercial software as well as custom developed applications.
+ **Develop roadmaps for existing and emerging technologies.** Development and maintenance of software products in accordance with best practices of software development methodologies and Agile project management. Strategic planning to evaluate and recommend network improvements and system upgrades to meet evolving business needs.
+ **Administration and maintenance of IT data center systems and/or cloud-based data storage.**
+ **Integration of data across multiple systems**
+ **Automation and Scripting:** Automate routine tasks and processes using scripting languages to increase efficiency.
+ **IT system compliance:** Respond to IT audit inquiries and coordinate with the organization and IT disciplines to conduct reviews; document findings and provide guidance for issue remediation.
+ **Support the operations and maintenance of server environments:** May include installing, supporting, and maintaining servers or other computer systems, and planning for and responding to service outages and other problems. May also provide scripting, programming, and project management for systems-related projects.
+ **Network management:** Install, configure, and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), routers, switches, and other network hardware.
+ **User and access management:** Create, manage, and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access rights across the network.
+ **System Security and Data Protection:** Implement and manage system security measures, including security patches, updates, antivirus/malware protection, and firewalls to protect network integrity and data from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification or destruction supporting the goals of protecting the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information.
+ **Monitoring and Performance:** Monitor network and system performance using diagnostic tools, analyze issues, and implement improvements for optimal efficiency, reliability, and availability. Diagnose and resolve network-related issues proactively.Participate in capacity planning and network performance optimization strategy and implementation.
+ **Backup and Disaster Recovery:** Design, implement, and test backup solutions and disaster recovery plans to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
+ **Documentation and Planning:** Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, procedures, and architectural diagrams.
+ **Collaboration:** Work closely with other IT staff and departments on infrastructure projects and new technology implementations.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
+ BA/BS + 8 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience in a railroad or transportation agency.
+ Experience with Agile management approach.
+ Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux server environments.
+ Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Microsoft 365).
+ Strong understanding of networking concepts and hardware.
+ Experience with network security best practices and tools.
+ Problem-solving: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
+ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
+ Service oriented and client focused.
Additional Information
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $113304.49 to $209613.3.
