Join Our Team! Full-Time Central Sterile Processing Technician - UPMC Memorial
UPMC Memorial is seeking a Full-Time Central Sterile Processing Technician to support our team in ensuring the proper decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, distribution, and documentation of surgical instruments and equipment. This role will work Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-11pm, with rotating weekends.
In this role, you'll assist with daily department operations, address routine questions, help orient new staff, and take on charge responsibilities in the absence of the department coordinator. You will also perform other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department functioning.

Responsibilities:
+ Fosters positive relationships through mentoring and effective communication.
+ Coaches on cultural diversity and addresses workplace violence and impairment.
+ Manages department independently during off-shifts or in the coordinator's absence.
+ Prepares and assembles surgical trays following established guidelines.
+ Mentors and educates colleagues, supporting their professional growth.
+ Monitors sterilization equipment to ensure proper function and compliance.
+ Maintains instrument inventory and ensures proper cleaning, disinfection, and reassembly.
+ Participates in performance improvement activities and shares best practices.
+ Supports professional development through education and change initiatives.
+ Cleans and decontaminates equipment manually and mechanically.
+ High School Graduate or Equivalent.
+ One year of Central Sterile Processing experience required OR Graduate of an accredited surgical technician/sterile processing program. Instrumentation and Equipment Specialized Knowledge. Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
+ Must be able to stand for all shift hours and be able to pick up, push, pull etc. 35 pounds. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution or Certified Registered Central Service Technician with Healthcare Sterile Processing Association. Certification required in our PA and NY facilities (MD is excluded) within 18 months of hire. Staff employed prior to December 28, 2020 are grandfathered and do not need to obtain the certification.
