Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
This position is located at our Headquarters location in Bismarck, ND.
This position leads and supports Construction Coordinators and provides guidance to contract hires performing construction management and inspection services. Responsible for ensuring that project safety, quality, progress/schedule, and cost are monitored, tracked, and reported during the construction phase of projects. Occasionally, this position will directly oversee the construction phase of assigned projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
+ Oversee construction coordination for generation, transmission, substation, and telecommunication projects, assigning resources as needed.
+ Delegate tasks, set clear expectations, and monitor team performance by providing guidance, mentorship, and team development training.
+ Conduct regular team meetings to ensure alignment on project goals, timelines, and responsibilities.
+ Ensure compliance with BEPC safety, health, regulatory requirements, and policies for all construction activities.
+ Assist in prequalifying construction contractors.
+ Prepare and review documents to be included in a Request for Proposals (RFP).
+ Review and comment on construction contract proposals; assist in conforming contract documents.
+ Provide input during project design/constructability reviews.
+ Develop and implement standardized construction management policies/procedures.
+ Communicate with manager regarding team performance, status of projects, potential roadblocks, or any issues that arise.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree in construction management, an Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited engineering program, industrial design, or a related discipline and 10 years of heavy industrial construction management experience.
+ Travel up to 30% of the time by car or cooperative/commercial plane.
+ A valid driver’s license.
This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems. This position may allow access to privileged information relating to such assets or systems. This position will be required to strictly adhere to all Basin Electric policies, procedures, and programs applicable to the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
+ Prior experience in a supervisory role.
+ Professional Engineer (PE), Project Management Professional (PMP), or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
This position requires occasional bending, climbing, kneeling, reaching, crawling, pushing/pulling up to 100 pounds and lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds; frequent sitting, standing, walking, and use of keyboard/computer. Finger dexterity, good hearing, and color vision are required. Occasionally works in conditions of dirt/dust, extreme heat and cold, noise, and electrical risks. May occasionally work in conditions of fumes, chemicals, vibration, poor ventilation, and confined areas. May occasionally be required to work at heights up to 500 feet.
KEY SKILLS
+ Extensive knowledge of construction management practices as applicable to heavy industrial construction.
+ Ability to interpret construction contract documents and generate responses for clarification.
+ Ability to function independently, prioritize and delegate tasks, and respond to continually changing priorities.
+ Ability to analyze data and reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations.
+ Excellent organization, time management, multitasking, and leadership skills.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
