    Responsibilities*

    + Development and maintenance of the KECC databases using Databricks, Python, and SAS as the primary platform. Utilization of version control software such as GitHub.

    + Work with senior staff to complete the monthly, quarterly, and yearly updates of the KECC ESRD database, which is a comprehensive historical database of more than 3 million ESRD patients drawn primarily from Medicare data.

    + Maintain the database by completing the following:

    + Analyze multiple input data sources for changes in format or content as part of the database production process.

    + Plan and carry out modifications to the database and related software to accommodate these changes.

    + Prepare sets of standard analysis files including Medicare claims and other data sources.

    + Under direction of the programming supervisor, work with the programming team and research analysts to determine data reporting requirements.

    + Design new systems or modifications to existing systems and assess alternative solutions.

    + Analyze and explore new data sources to assess their appropriateness for meeting these needs.

    + Prepare detailed system documentation in Confluence, including data dictionary tools and researchers guides.

    + Prepare and carry out detailed testing plans, using Jira, to verify proper operation of the systems, and data validation.

    Required Qualifications*

    + Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + Typical fields of study include but are not limited to: Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Policy, Epidemiology, Economics, Computer Science, or related field.

    + Two or more years of professional experience in Python development and SAS data management and statistical analysis.

    + Proficiency using version control software, such as GitHub.

    + Ability to debug, test, and optimize code for performance in a research environment.

    + Excellent communication skills, both oral and written to work with non-technical stakeholders.

    + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.

    + Self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities.

     

    Work Locations

     

    This position can be fully remote position from anywhere within the US with eastern time work hours. Flexible work agreements are reviewed annually and are subject to change dependent on the business needs of the hiring department, throughout the course of employment. A telecommuting agreement will be issued should the recruited applicant be outside of the Ann Arbor, Michigan area.
