General Summary
Functions in a corporate role to direct, plan, organize and control the activities and functions of third party billing and data control for all hospital and home health revenue cycle accounts. Ensures compliance with external regulatory requirements in addition to the internal policies and procedures of the revenue cycle.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Evaluates procedures to improve methods for controlling patient accounts receivable, reducing costs of patient accounting operations, and improve work flow.
+ Ensures maximum third party reimbursement through strategic financial planning, familiarity with payer allowances/disallowances of billed charges, and aggressive pursuit of payments and reimbursement through denials management and settlement mechanisms.
+ Investigates and reports on all current reimbursement developments on the state and federal level.
+ Implements appropriate billing and collection procedures, ensuring that all accounts receivable records are kept in accordance with established procedures.
+ Maintains appropriate internal controls over accounts receivable and cash receipt functions.
+ Keeps current on all billing procedures of third party and private insurance payers.
+ Works with the Director-Customer Service and Collections to ensure appropriate billing, payment cycles and procedures for follow-up on third party approvals, billing and collection on all overdue accounts.
+ Works with the Senior Director of Patient Financial Services - PB to develop appropriate billing and collection processes that rely on both Epic Resolute revenue cycle streams.
Common Expectations:
+ Recommends staffing levels, selects and assigns staff, evaluates performance, evaluates/tests competencies (as applicable), provides orientation, training and continuing education of staff, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
+ Coordinates and integrates services within the department/service line/entity, with other departments/service lines/entities, and with the System's primary functions. Participates in the selection of outside services (if needed).
+ Continuously assesses and improves the department/service line/entity/System's performance. Maintains appropriate quality control/assessment programs (if applicable).
+ Develops budget(s) for the department/unit/entity and allocates funds within budget(s) to accomplish objectives. Monitors variance against budget(s).
+ Develops, establishes and implements goals, objectives, and policies and procedures for department/service line/entity operation, and which guide and support the provision of the department/service line/entity's services.
+ Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.
+ Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
+ Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports. Prepares periodic reports for top management, as required.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
+ Bachelors Degree Required
Work Experience:
+ 10+ years Experience in accounting or business administration. Required and
+ Supervisory experience. Required
Licenses:
+ Certified Public Accountant Upon Hire Preferred or
+ Certified Manager Patient Accounts Upon Hire Preferred or
+ Certified Patient Accounts Manager Upon Hire Preferred
