You will play a pivotal role in shaping the sustainability and cultural legacy of multiple properties committed to hospitality with heart and purpose. Your work will directly impact how we care for our people, our community, and our planet—while strengthening the values that define who we are.
JOB SUMMARY
The Market Director of Environment, Social, Governance, and Culture is responsible with shaping, implementing, and refining ESG initiatives that support multiple property objectives, comply with relevant regulations, meet stakeholder needs, and fosters long-term sustainability. This role collaborates closely with the Cultural Advisor and works cross-functionally to embed ESG principles across operations, reporting, and risk management, incorporating a strong emphasis on cultural stewardship and community engagement.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
+ 2-year degree from an accredited university in Sustainability, Business, Environmental Science, Public Policy; or related field; 12 years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility, ideally within hospitality or consumer-facing industries.
OR
+ 4-year bachelor’s from an accredited university in Sustainability, Business, Environmental Science, Public Policy, or related field; (Master’s preferred). 8+ years of progressive experience in ESG, sustainability, or corporate responsibility, ideally within hospitality or consumer-facing industries.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Certifications (preferred): SASB FSA Credential, GRI Certification, LEED, CPA with ESG focus.
+ Minimum of three years in a key leadership role.
+ Proven track record leading multi-brand or multi-property ESG initiatives.
+ Strong understanding of ESG reporting standards, frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
+ Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
+ Ability to balance strategic vision with practical implementation across cultural operational contexts.
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Environmental Sustainability
+ Leads initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, energy and water usage, waste reduction, and sustainable sourcing.
+ Develops and executes a group-wide sustainability strategy in line with each property's framework.
+ Oversees ESG data collection and reporting across all properties.
+ Collaborates with property operations, engineering, and procurement teams at each location to set and meet environmental targets.
Social Impact
+ Drives social initiatives focused on fostering a vibrant culture, community engagement, and associate well-being.
+ Designs and manages social responsibility programs, including community engagement, charitable partnerships, and volunteer initiatives.
+ Supports ethical supply chain management and compliance across property operations and vendors programs.
Governance
+ Develops governance frameworks, ethics policies and accountability mechanisms to validate compliance and responsible business practices.
+ Establishes policies and procedures resulting in transparency, compliance, and accountability across all properties.
+ Works with Legal, Risk, and Compliance teams to integrate ESG principles with company policies and procedures.
+ Oversees the preparation and publication of ESG and sustainability reporting, validating compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards. including annual disclosures.
Culture & Associate Engagement
+ Engages with internal and external stakeholders, investors, associates, guests, community partners, and regulatory bodies to promote transparency and address sustainability concerns.
+ Defines and nurtures the local culture across each property to align core values and purpose.
+ Partners with HR and Brand leaders to design initiatives that foster engagement, recognition, and cultural cohesion.
+ Leads cultural assessments, engagement surveys, and action plans to continuously strengthen the associate experience.
+ Identifies ESG-related risks and develops mitigation strategies. Monitors emerging trends and regulations in the sustainability and ESG landscape.
+ Designs and delivers cultural and service excellence. Integrates it in onboarding, leadership, and associate training. Mentor's cultural ambassadors at each of the properties.
+ Plans and leads cultural guest services programs. Creates and presents cultural/historical presentations for groups, conventions, and CIP guests. Serves as a liaison with community.
Leadership & Collaboration
+ Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of current trends in the travel and hospitality industries.
+ Designs and implements a comprehensive ESG strategy aligned with organizational goals and hospitality industry best practices.
+ Serves as the key ESG and culture ambassador across all brands and properties.
+ Partners with marketing and communications teams to promote ESG achievements and cultural stories.
+ Engages with owners, investors, and external partners to communicate progress and inspire collaboration.
+ Represents the company in industry forums, sustainability conferences, and partnerships.
Cultural Stewardship & Advisory
+ Serves as a cultural advisor
+ Validates protocols, customs, and values are embedded in operations, design, and guest experiences.
+ Implements ongoing cultural programs, including language, arts, and customs training for associates.
+ Maintains cultural displays, galleries, and cultural spaces across properties.
+ Integrates organizational and cultural values, practices, and worldview into the foundation of corporate culture across all properties.
