    The Quality Engineer, Senior implements and maintains quality assurance protocols and methods. Designs methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of components and finished products. Demonstrates practical knowledge of products / components within assigned area to anticipate and prepare for possible non-conformances.

     

    This role is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of 3 days a week in our Buffalo Grove, IL facility.

    Responsibilities:

    + Takes initiative to gather data and investigate potential non-conformances. Collects data and uses data collected by others

    + With minimal day to day instructions, conducts activities to support quality execution against key performance metrics. Responsible for regular monitoring / reviewing of business and operational processes to evaluate for continuous improvement opportunities

    + Acts as advisor to less-senior technicians and/or engineers / suppliers in vetting non-conformances

    + Uses technology to visually present data and analyses in meaningful ways

    + Leverages tools like fishbone diagram, pareto analysis, and FMEA to simplify complex data

    + Takes initiative to create new adhoc reports to meaningfully represent business outcomes and drive decisions. May or may not recommend new standard reports based on data trends.

    + Routinely summarizes information on defect data, process improvement data and analyses and recommendations to management.

    + Trains technicians and / or engineers within functional area by developing and deploying curricula and / or mentoring

    + May represent the unit on project teams. May act as project leader on projects of limited scope and impact

    + Resolves a wide range of issues in innovative as well as practical ways

    + Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise

    + Interacts with management and external stakeholders (3rd party contract companies) on matters requiring coordination across organizational lines

    + Completes audit training, as required

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s degree (in a STEM related field) required

    + Minimum 5 years of work experience required

    + Industrial, Mechanical, Software, or Electrical Engineering experience required

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with ISO9000 preferred

    + Six Sigma training or similar certification / training preferred

    + Understands key quality metrics and performance levels

    + Demonstrates knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

    + Education and training in quality disciplines

    + Problem solving and ability and experience analyzing raw data

    + Experience with devices and industrial printers

    + Solid experience with data analytics

    + Excellent presentation skills. Comfortable presenting to senior leaders

    + Experience with Qualtrics, Siebel, PowerBI or similar systems preferred

    + Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills

    Salary: USD 84400.00 - USD 126600.00 Yearly

     

    Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.

     

    Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
