    Summary

    Under general supervision, candidates will perform PCB troubleshooting, debugging, rework, chassis assembly and disassembly, electrical wiring, harness builds, network IP setup and functional testing and prototype builds, preparation of documentation, managing lab assets. Orders and maintains inventory for electronic equipment. Scripting support for building tests.

    Detailed Description

    Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

    + System Debug and Troubleshooting, repairs and designs circuits and fabricates electronic test equipment.

    + Software upgrades; tests, debugs, configures and documents software as required to meet user needs.

    + Network IP setup configuration Install and monitor network operating system software.

    + Load and configure software utilities or applications used to facilitate the operation of computers.

    + Install new equipment and modify current installations using various manual and power tools such as hand drill, drill press, etc.

    + Modified and built harness cables as needed.

    + Order and maintain inventory parts for electronic equipment; maintains warranty, service and repair records;

    + Work with vendors to obtain pricing and availability of needed parts

    + Performs incoming inspections on delivered equipment to ensure proper operation.

    + Ability to read and understand electrical engineering drawings, including schematics, layouts and other technical documents

    + Ability to follow verbal or written procedures and instructions

    + Comfortable using power tools such as cutting tools, electronic screwdrivers, power drills, Dremel tools, etc

    + Hands-on skills to disassemble and reassemble electronic devices

    + Must be able to work with minimal supervision

    + Team oriented with good communication skills and ability to multitask

    + Ability to use oscilloscopes (including all controls), and an understanding of the limitations of various models (e.g., frequency response)

    + Assist with preparing capital equipment documentation for finance

    + Ability to document and organize work using Microsoft office tools such as Outlook, Word, Excel

    + Any programming experience is a plus.

    + MEP drawing experience is a plus

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies

    ABILITY TO:

    Perform skilled work in repair of computer and networking equipment; perform skilled work in the repair, maintenance, modified and

     

    build harness cables and adjustment of various specialized electronic equipment; use precision tools skillfully; keep current of

     

    applicable technology; follow and understand oral and written directions; train others in the use of varied, maintain cooperative

     

    working relationships; demonstrate sensitivity to, and respect for, a diverse population.

    KNOWLEDGE OF:

    Tools, materials, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of electronic equipment; tasks associated with LAN/WAN

     

    administration; safety precautions to be observed in the maintenance and installation of electronic systems and equipment. Python

    programming and knowledge of shell scripting is a big plus **Typical Education**

    + Associate Degree in a STEM Program

    + Educational requirements may vary by geography

    Physical Demands

    + Duties of the position are performed in a manufacturing environment with frequent exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, hazardous substances, etc.

    + Duties require extended periods of sustained visual concentration on detailed documentation and product assemblies.

    + Duties of the position require periodic light physical effort and exertion including prolonged repetitive motions, sitting in confined workspaces, using tools and equipment, and moving and handling materials.

    + Duties may require periodic heavy manual effort including lifting objects over 20 pounds.
