Duties Description Under the supervision of the Historic Site Manager and the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Assistant will perform a range of maintenance duties at Crailo State Historic Site. Duties include, but are not limited to: • Perform building and ground maintenance and cleaning activities o upkeep of grounds, including such seasonal tasks as mowing, weeding, snow & ice removal; During fall months, the candidate will focus on leaf removal and maintaining equipment for the next season. During the winter months, the candidate will assist in snow removal and shoveling o upkeep of buildings, including light maintenance such as cleaning restrooms, collecting trash, mopping, and vacuuming • Oversee building appliances and systems to ensure they are operating and maintained. Includes changing or cleaning filters, organizing and storing tools, replacing equipment, and monitoring lightbulbs and alarm batteries.• Assist in performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as painting, carpentry, and mechanical repairs. • Load and unload cargo from vehicles.• Assists interpretive staff at events with parking, traffic control, monitoring fires, moving exhibit cases, and transferring furniture• Participate in the general event set-up and take-down of tents, tables, chairs, and other operationally needed. • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: No minimum qualification per Civil Service.

Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS: • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.• Basic computer skills• Must possess strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and in a team. • Must be able to communicate effectively with other staff and park patrons in a responsible and courteous manner.• Ability to perform medium to heavy physical labor, including medium-heavy lifting and using step ladders. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
